A few weeks ago, I was contacted by Launch to review one of their OBDII scanners. I told them that I would, with the stipulation that I can give it away on my channel after the review.
I'm not sure what they sent me, but I got the package last night. I was wondering if I could ask a favor. What are the most important features for you in a scanner? I want to be sure that I cover as many bases as I can.

THANKS!
Deep scanning (make-specific codes, not just the standards)
Live data
Two-way comms (able to change codes, e.g. turning off auto-lock)
I had a cheap Launch scanner I bought off the Matco tool truck years ago.
I was not impressed with it; it gave false data information vs our 10k Snap-on Scanner.
We had to go and physically test the wheel bearing speed sensor with a multimeter to determine which scanner was correct.
I tried to update it and my computer said the site was not trusted.
I gave it back to the tool guy to update and his computer also said the site was not trusted.
After that it got used to scan codes only and eventually the cable broke.
Then it got tossed in the trash.
Thank you all so much! I hope this vidya turns out OK! These are the features of the reader they sent me:
Read & clear codes,✅
Turn off engine light or MIL, ✅
View freeze frame, ✅
One Key I/M readiness,✅
Retrieve vehicle VIN 🔋
Battery voltage test ✅
Live data stream ✅
10000+DTCs✅
O2 sensor test✅
EVAP Test (Mode 8)✅
On-board Monitoring (Mode 6)✅

On another note, this FMX came from another well known shop here in SLC. We've found some interesting things...
We found this in the TC feed port. At first we thought it was a smashed check ball, but it's aluminum, not steel:
Also found these stacked in the inhibitor valve. The spring on the right is actually a "pull" spring. May as well be a bolt. The Transgo kit says to re-use the stock spring there. Luckily we had another valve body to pull it out of. You can tell it was not happy. Look how bent up that yellow spring is!
Oh, the dealer where i used to work has problems with their service counter staff. Dropped my truck off Tuesday for a shifting concern, ended up being the CDF hub bushing failure. The advisor I was dealing with asked me if i was going to leave it there or pick it up. I said well you tell me, how soon can you get to it? 4 weeks until they can get to it, so of course I'm going to pick it up. Maybe im out in left field here but wouldn't that be part of the conversation from the get-go. Also had to explain 3 times that I would like to pay out of pocket for a new transmission filter while its torn apart as i dont want to put a filter with 40k miles back in with all new fluid
DJ, That post made little sense but I believe that is what you are venting about.
Maybe it's in stock if you will leave it there?
4 weeks to get a trans filter? Is that for the 10R80 in your truck or for something ancient, like a 5R55?
4 weeks for a filter for a current model is crazy. If they are anything like my local dealers they would have plenty of BG fake snake oil in stock though.
Edit: Yeah, makes more sense now.
Still, 4 weeks before they can get to it? My vehicle down for 4 weeks would be unforgivable even though I have another truck.
Also, with all the TSBs, recalls, etc. I need to trade in my 2020 F150 before a major cost issue. It has had zero issues so far, zero, just get in and drive. But go into the 2015 to 2020 forum or watch a fordtechmakuloco video and I now know that they are all defective.
Maybe my next truck will be a non union built full size as I hear from many sources that they have the most reliable trucks, engines, trans, etc. Consumer reports says they have never built a bad vehicle, ever.

sorry i didnt word it well. The transmission has to be torn apart for the CDF hub failure that the 10R has. Its 4 weeks until the trans tech can get to it, all the parts are in stock so thats not the problem.
