Strange, - Power companies power just came back on line. My internet switch didn't survive. Everything else did thankfully Netgear Prosafe 8 port GS108.. age most likley helped there. Anyway, that's a first.

It went like this, Explosion off in the distance, - power goes out.....power attempts to come right back on....another explosion......powers down again. Went outside, heard and seen another explosion from town this time. That was it for awhile.

Kind of wondering if I should put a polish on the arsenal.

EDIT: As it turns out, two breakers were popped in the houses main box. Surge still got through. No major damage yet, looks like anything that uses a smaller type transformers that were plugged in at the time got hit, -blew the soldered in fuses on the PCB's (transformers board fuse). You can hear the blown fuse rattling around when you shake the transformers. Not suppose to service those. Yep, first time that's happened.

That's enough for me tonight..

Don't worry about it jp, there's an antique place I've been wanting to hit....it's not that far. Let me try there first before you go though the trouble. Pretty sure they have a lot of that stuff. Thank you my friend.

Holy crap... I'm assuming the power company lost a bunch of their transformers on poles, etc? I've been outside when those go, and it makes a really brilliant white light.

Yeah for sure, something like that. I don't hear any more generators, so I think everybody is back up again. House internet just came back on again, about an hour ago. I'm whole again...I think....hope it sticks this time.

No, so the special little snowflakes can have space to recover from the trauma of a power outage.

I find the empathy teaching kind of stupid
I live close to an elementary school and visit the park there with my mean *** golden retriever
No kidding, pit bull mean dog this one I have now
Was at the park walking with the dog on a leash
Two Pitbull's came running up (off leash), I was thinking oh crap
A "Yuge" commotion and barking etc. followed
Our dog bit one of them right on the nose and they both went running off
Two kids (maybe 5th grade boys) were watching the disturbance and came over
They said "so sorry you had to go through that"
I was dancing all around still being all proud of my dog
Kids were displaying empathy emotions that I see being taught in school (banners all over about not hurting others feelings and such about displaying emphathy and not being an ****)
Seems futile to me, what happened to math science and history

If it got past my surge protection, I imagine it occurred elsewhere as well.

Around here we are told by the school boards that the schools are not allowed to operate without power or internet as the backup generators are only available for a short time, just enough to evac the schools; generators don't operate the HVAC which must run; and the safety systems, fire alarms, etc. will be offline without internet. I do know that the days of intercoms betwixt the classes, offices, clinic, etc. have been replaced with some Google BS that needs the internet. Workspace for education.

Not agreeing or disagreeing, that is just what we were told and how it works now.

My last "snowflake" graduated last year and will start uni this fall.

I bet my last "snowflake" is a girl that could out shoot, out wrestle, out run, out swim, out climb, and out do just about anyone on here (because we are all old).
