I'm guessing that Ford is going to sell these hubs/drums loaded? That's starting to be the norm lately. We're doing a GM 6L90 this weekend that has a cracked. That was a joint design between GM and Ford, and so are the 10 speeds. All have the same issues with drum failures.

The 6L90 we're doing... it took us an hour to drive 10 miles because it would lose pressure. Ron was pulling over to shut the motor off, then repeat the process until we got it to his garage.

EDIT: You can see here, this is loaded with new clutches and steels. The loss of pressure trashes the clutches and steels.

My phone has been ringing with people wanting me to fix things...

I have these lined up so far:

Water pump/timing cover/timing chain/heater control valve on a 99 Ranger.

Spark plugs/boots and springs on a 2015 Ecoboost F150 (3.5 flavor).

TXV/drier kit on 2012 Escape

Possibly a front end rebuild on my Buddy's Excursion.

Probably struts/shocks on the same 2012 Escape

I have had a string of calls asking for advice, not a single job out of any of them.
Got another leaving me messages wanting to ask question about his car.
Getting tired of spending time researching their problem, and diagnosing it then it never comes in.

I have kids that do most of that, but then they want it fixed for free too.

Old(er) vet-pal has such a Ranger. An SF metro-local pal says $550(?) Labor-Only for replace a clutch for his stick, according to his software. Probably a 4.0-six. Am considering us doing it. Is that 3.5 hrs labor? Seems about right. Man, last I did one a clutch was $11 parts.

We did all our working the 60's & Most in the 70's. Dad was a machinist and stuck bolts in a lathe to taper them. These made aligning the trans easy during replacement. Nice tools to make a few of.

I got this sign for my young mech's new shop.
You might just add this to your sight. Services I see, tend to say yes, we can discuss and or fix that. Let me get your bonafidelies and start a ticket - and we'll stop when and where you know all you want to know and/or decide for me to fix it, ASAP. Sorry, but too many have simply taken my knowledge and I miss answering actual paying calls. I'm not a big shop that can afford to give everything away for free. It can stop time-wasters.

If you do it... be sure to BENCH bleed the slave cylinder. Those are very difficult to bleed in the truck. Also, 99.99999% chance that has an M5OD in it. I highly recommend doing the freeze plug or black RTV modification to the shifter housing.

I have three daughters. No interest at all in working on cars... "Dad will do it".

I had a rash of those last year. In fact, this Ranger was one of those vehicles... I think he finally decided that he didn't want to do it.

No interest in scaring dates or chipping in on proms. Mom will do it. If you vacuum, clean & cook enough to please her.

Got ourselves a new fridge last night. Want a French door style. Found a 17.6 cubic foot whirlpool for 1100. Okay not bad. Checked the scratch and dent section. Found that same fridge with a 250 dollar discount because of a small ding on the freezer drawer. Sold!

Getting delivered next Friday
