Thinking
PS, I like white - paint any color but a white eng compartment to see inside. $1200 even seems low. From the descrip, it's driveable, just not quite legal. Didn't notice, 4x4??? I need 4x4 in a pick'em-up.
Ok, I edited the post to what I get when I copy / paste the link or use the link function in the tools.
Link still don't work. I give up.
That thing is a worn out rust bucket, went by to look at it. Must have lived up north at some point.
Too much work for too little result.
Engine did start right up and sounded good. Was a 5.4.
Trip was almost a waste of a rainy Sunday, BUT, I did go by and see grandkids so that made things better.
Thanks for the advice.
Thanks for the 1 ton offer.
edit, I'll Try to post link here again:

220,000 mi. May run v nice, but for any longevity, trans in due a refresh, and eng, ~someday. *I didn't zoom,* but the read sounded potentially worth fixing it. A 250 no less. MAYBE less work to fix it than swap cab and bed. Not a pro; am eager to hear them speak.

I have a great 97 F150, in great shape, runs great, only a couple small dents. I fix things as they come up. The payload and towing is just too low at times . I know I can overload it and be safe but was just wonderring if I could get it heavier ratings easily
My 97 is only a play truck now and I have another vehicle for daily duties.
When I go borrow a friends backhoe I have to use my wife's E350 as it is way overweight and scary for my F150. total with trailer is ~6000 lbs.

You just camo'd it w leading characters. Hylight everything but them (Start at the azz end.) Click, open sesame, and Bob's... Nevermind.

My '01, a 4x4, (Just a 150, boo hoo. Wanted a 7700,) was $4000, just months before covid, is now worth 5-6 easy, (even ignoring the 5.4 died, headgasket, and the tranny was done up, upbuilt by Darrin at BCA.) I hang at a small used car-wrencher, lacking any friends still alive, and they said everything is up, but esp trucks. Clincher, this is San Francisco. I do NOT see that many citizens, (or Non-Citizens,) needing a camping rig or Tahoe-Toy.
Your would be mistress is a 250. And Yeah, a 4x4, (as required! Heh heh!) As a *compromise vehicle,* mine is the same 3-door, 6.5 ft bed, I find *ideal.* I can park ALMOST anywhere, even in SF.
I zoomed in this time. Now imagine you swap. Body off, how hard to pay for a sand blaster to do the frame? (Mine is ok, but I'd LOVE to repaint that.) You'd have an 8-10K truck. (Your labor almost free.) Seems you'd be up 2-4k? Labor of love and bragging rights. Need to find a 250 forum, of course, heh heh. Do the math.
New, er... I mean MY '01 anyway, is a fiberglass hood. (Did save me hassle, once. Cop looks at me, hand on hood. "Engine is cold." (Chewed out the young fancy-car guy blaming me for a parking misadventure in front of my house when he boxed me in, 11:30 PM. ~"His license plate screw TOUCHED my perfectly.painted bumper!!!". Would NOT trade insurance info; just demanded mine. Got set straight on that, too.)

The 7700 is in between.
It was called a Heavy Duty 150; Then a Light Duty 250, then a 7700.
Side by side you can see the 7700's height gain over a 150. The frame is taller on a 7700. think, taller I-beam, carries more load.
I'm in your plight. 150 is barely a truck. A DRY load of horse apples or fluffed compost just exceeds a half ton. If it sprinkled, 3/4. If it rained, you approach an honest ton. I air up my tires to the max.& take a back road 50 mph hwy, versus the fwy. 1 ton I just refuse. ANYthing went wrong,.it would be 100% on me, IF I was here to answer for it, nevermind other poor slobs around me. Wife would lose the house, etc.
7700's are just rare. Others realized what we do. They do not let go of them easily. The 150 almost postures as a truck, only exceeded by Harley editions and the like. But they will haul washers and dryers at the same time. Or enough horse apples/compost for a small suburban garden. A motorcycle. Sorta a big, gas drinking "Truck-La." (The infamous homemade Tesla truck.)
I looked at a 250 once. Sorta towers over the inordinately tall, '01 150. A hair too much for the 'burbs around SF. You will step UP into a 7700, but it is a taller frame, and that is the crux of the matter. At 6 ft, I must have a spare 6" over my head in my 150, sitting upright. (Do I NEED a cowboy hat? Not big on unneeded hats.) A 250, is very literally, a step, (maybe two,) up. Seemed wider too - cuda been the BIG mirrors. They aren't gonna violate the sacred 80" limit.
