How much do the pickups weigh with 8' of snow on them?
How much snow can one stack on a truck anyway?

Thanks for you guys wondering about me. My days have been taken up with my GF for the past year. We made the 1 year anniversary just this week. Who'd of thunk? That and the snow since December.

The snow you see on Red in the picture above is child's play in comparison to what we've gotten this year so far. 104" at the airport, but I live nearer the mountains, and we are over 129 and counting here. It's a freakin' mess this year. Worst year I can remember since 1965 when we kept getting 20'' of wet snow each dump. This came in 24, 28, 22 inch dumps, back to back to back. Now we get 18 over here since Sunday. At least it has stopped and no snow until at least Saturday now. Luckily my Husky snowblower can throw it over to the vacant lot across the street easy enough. There is no room in my front yeard for any more. It's sitting at the window bottoms right now.

Red gets around well in this deep snow. I go right by stuck Jeeps all the time. I've even pulled 2 out. They just seem to sit on top of the snow/ice and won't go anywhere. LOL Funny thing is that I use all-season tires and go better than a lot of the lug/snow design tires do. I've been up in snow past the step rails, and tootled right on thru. Might have something to do with the 300# of sand I keep bagged in the bed over the rear axles. LOL.

Talking about weight, Red crossed the weigh scales at 5230 with 1/2 tank of gas, and me in it, shell on, bed empty.. My blue one was 5920 with the shell.. This was last summer when I was running stuff to the dump. These were the empty readings. Actually these are fairly heavy 1/2 tons, weight wise.

I'm slightly **** about wanting to KNOW what is true, and what the sticker SAID, back in '01 in my case, for a 5.4, 4x4, SCab. Lost most of what I gleaned from here and there when a phone died w no memory card. Takes a long time to find and accumulate, when you buy an '01 in 2018. Now I also have a 3x5 spiral-bound, like Leo's use... Waterproof. Write IN the rain. Lost nerdy garden stuff once in the wash. No more. Also has graph paper. Love that!

Not sure how Ford figures that. I have the same truck as you and Ford has the SW right at 4700. Seems heavier, but I never weighed it. I recall my kids was 43 or 4400 according to Ford. Kids was a 2WD short bed RC w/4.2L.

Quick search says around 4500 lbs, - https://www.cars.com/research/ford-f_150-1997/

But you can find your exact model with a little effort if you want to...I know it's out there. Try searching your VIN/curb weight

Good Luck!

Ballast, yeah, was gonna say. Burn in Fairbanks. Unsure where dad built his cabin. Mom carved shelves in the 8' snowdrifts just outside the door for butter, etc.

Dad towed a few monster-tire trucks out, w a skinny tired 144ci IH Scout. He explained, they cut through to the tractionable surface.

They seem to be, and Chevy's too, in prior years, maybe now too. No big aluminum/CAFE bent for trucks back then. Heck, 10th gen had Ford's 1st nod toward aerodynamics. Sorta makes then unique.

I see Red is a "GF +1," rig. 🤭 Be v interested in any 10th gen weights or specs,) esp for 4x4 SCabs. My '01, 6.5' bed, seems to be 18' &~ 6-8". New seem to just exceed 19'. I can usually *just* park mine in downtown SF. I envy folks with actual seasons. Miss them greatly. And riding or driving past poor drivers who even get stuck (crash, slo-mo,) on city streets.

That Husky must run real good.. that seems like a lot of wet snow for a walk behind. Being it was wet has got to be what, like 4 times as difficult to move. I suppose if it had a chance to freeze, it could of been much worse.

Did you have to get up on the roof?

That is a lot to deal with, I can't imagine. Help must of been hard to come by....with everyone being in the same situation.

Glad to hear you're making it around there, @akdoggie . You must have one heckuva Road-clearing crew up there to keep things at least relatively passable.

Sorry we haven't seen more of you here but I'm liking the reason. Happy for you!
