We're going to go through the whole trans. Also going to redo the pigtail going into the trans. We have a Transgo separator plate to go with it. Those are "usually" pre-drilled to their spec.
Mine came with 3 drill bits. Directions came with recommendations were to start. I skipped their first recommendation and moved onto the second drill bit. I didn't want to do it twice and that's what others were doing at the time. ...that was my mistake...had to do it twice anyway and fab a new plate as the shift point holes were now too large. The pre-drilled were most definitely too small.
That was my particular kit though for that transmission. I suggest going by the directions.
Hopefully that helps you more. Doing it twice sucks lol.
Also my E4OD/4R100 was slipping badly, didn't want to move the vehicle. That was the purpose of the kit, but I did more work to it than just the kit.
I did this back in 06 at 185,000 miles. Have never had another problem with it since. I believe the truck/trans has 370,000 miles plus on it now.
Thanks Brew!! Good to know... I'll look at it all tomorrow. The white box on top of the Transgo kit is a brand new/updated solenoid block. There's also a new separator plate that's not in the pic. I'll measure the holes and see if they're pre-drilled, and report back. This will be my first E4OD/4R100, but Ron has done several of them. He calls that kit "Tug and Pull", but I think it just says "Tugger" on it. Do you remember what yours said?
I was also following 1 sometimes 2 transmission guys advice. It was my first and last time working on a auto trans lol. Did it at https://www.tccoa.com/ way back when. The guys over there knew that trans well .
Holey crap, that was almost 18 years ago lol. 2006*
Well, he did the job Rory asked for...actually better than that according to Rory. I noticed a big dent they painted over...it's now a shiny big dent lol.
I like the undercarriage work they did...should of left the paint alone now that I thought about it. Painting half **** rarely turns out well imo. It's like trying to do something you love without any heart....if that makes sense.
