Thinking
What a bummer...I mean, what are the chances...(?)
Yeah Red,- Bullseye or STOP!
Probably doesn't matter, more likley than not passed out at the wheel anyway...if alcohol was involved.
Might be salvageable, depends upon the frame. Is it just the left rear of did it take the right side with it? Seen frame shops do some amazing things. Check your area "Frame Shops" Find one where that's all they do.. There's a really good one not far from me, -Harolds Frame Shop. Been there since I was kid, good size shop , like 12 bays of so. They keep busy, passed by there every day for quite a few years. Anyway, just a though.

My experience in VA with insurance claims from other fault.
Most big name insurance (Progressive, Farmers) will total a truck that old immediately then low-ball you on the payment.
State Farm will total it but offer a little more.
Geico will say it's your fault because you parked it in front of their insured and if you don't like it, just be glad we aren't suing you.
If they had it covered under a commercial policy (Travelers, Farm Bureu, Bituminous, etc) I have always had a good and quick process and payout.
All are going to total loss it.
None of the names you see on TV are likely to let you buy it back once you take their payment.
This is my own personal experience and that of my extended family.

No kidding...they want me to pay to have it towed home to save them on impound fees in case they can't find insurance on the owner of the truck that hit me. I got nowhere to put it except back on the street, so that's a bust...
The police report has as the owner a guy that sold the truck to a dealership four years ago...dealership obviously wouldn't tell me who bought it. Meanwhile, went to the driver's address and there are like seven or eight illegals living there and he's clearly skipped town. I have uninsured motorist, but I have a feeling they're gonna lowball the hell outta me for this. Out thousands on it and don't have the truck I wanted for when the mortgage goes through. To top it off, getting my mortgage will temporarily eradicate my credit, which means I won't be able to finance one for at least a year.
To add insult to injury, the alternator is going bad on the Acura...hopefully it will make it to the weekend so I can swap it out. Had to pay nearly $300 for that with the core.
When it rains it pours...
Wait,
So, the actual accident report from the police doesn't have the license and insurance data from the person who hit you?
That is a state regulated form and should have that data. It's called something like "Police Crash Report" . Cops don't give it to you but will let you take a picture of it. It is a public record.
Are you sure he skipped town? If the other driver was DUI they would have been arrested on the spot and taken for arraignment. That is all of VA.
Have you called your insurance company? They should be helping you whether you had full coverage or not.. They have ways to get info that you don't have. They will need the accident report and be able to get it. That report will have the insurance data you need.
If you had insurance, call your company. They can and should help.
They won't raise your rate due to your not at fault claim.
I'm in Virginia and have been through this process several times.
Someone ran their car into one of my kids cars at a red light. the responding officer even took the time (later) to look at video footage from the store at the corner the accident happened at to see their "witness" run from the store and get into the other car after the wreck, so they could lie to the cops and, I assume, sue later. Whole thing unraveled for them in court and their slimeball, accident chaser left before the judge rendered a verdict. The cop knew what was going on from the time he got there and helped in every way he could. So did the judge. And her insurance company.

I have USAA, and the adjustor says she's working on it. I have liability with uninsured motorist, but I'm expecting that they will lowball me on the value. It's listed as 5k on the police report.
The other driver was clearly intoxicated, and it was weird because both the guy with the Charger and I noticed it, but the cops seemed to be intentionally ignoring that fact (report simply says "not tested" under both alcohol and drugs), along with the fact that a three or four year old child was in the truck without a car seat, most likely because they were obviously illegal and there's a ton of paperwork that comes with that observation on a hot Saturday evening around shift change.
While it was just outside the range on the camera to catch the actual impact, I have video of the driver pulling his heavily injured friend out on my ring cam as well as the ambulance taking him away, but the police report has no injuries listed at all(the passenger is on the ground barely conscious and covered in blood), nor does it mention that there were three adults and a child in the vehicle(white shirt in the pic).
For frame of reference, my truck was actually parked with the front about fifteen feet to the right of the large bush in front of the white fence.
It also doesn't mention that the registration on that truck expired in May, as you can see on the tags in my pic, nor is he charged for the expired tags.

Hoping to get in to look at one of these shops in the next few days. I hope the price is accurate.

Let us know how the shared bathroom thing works?
Is there another door inside that connects to the other units, like a hallway?
I would be worried about a break in to one unit, then them having the time to access them all from inside.
