Basically, anything newer than 1975 is subject to testing.

I'm fortunate to be in an emissions-testing-exempt area. I've wanted to take my '95 in somewhere just to see what it would turn for results, but nobody down here does anything other than diesels. If I had to comply, it would be a mad scramble (and nearly impossible today) to find a stock catted H-pipe not to mention my smog pump is long gone.
I think the big complaint is that almost all of my friends have completely removed their smog equipment because they didn't need it. I might be giving some stuff to my Buddy to get his 331 to pass. He only has his smog pump left.

They should all go "midnight rider" and run illegally. Start holding rallies and cannonball runs. F--- the state!

All of mine is gone, too, so I'd be SOL if they did that here. This may be an option for those Utah-ans needing an out: https://www.dirtlegal.com/blog/why-i...car-in-montana

The old intake is off, and everything is cleaned up. I could find no cracks or other damage to the intake, so it must have been a good old-fashioned gasket leak. The old plugs are out and look fine, but with 40K on them, new ones are going in since they're dead simple to change right now. I'm going to pull and inspect the EGR valve and IAC, and if good, I'll install those on the cleaned-up TB elbow, and will move the existing TB and TPS over as well. Components will be cleaned or replaced as necessary.

Pretty cruddy. The driver's side was definitely not sealing up as well as the passenger.

Rodent remnants.

This is better.

Nice and even.

That's downright spic-n-span compared to the cesspool I had waiting for me after my intake failure.

I would change the plastic coolant line that runs under the intake.

I would, too, but it's metal.

Fun fun....

I've now replaced everything in the fuel system. This was a pain in the @$$ because they shipped me the wrong part (double checked the listing, and yep, they screwed up), so I had to have my checkbook abused by one of my fine local auto parts stores for a no name pump. The pump I was sent was two inches too long, and I had no way of knowing until I dropped it in and it went clunk with the top sticking out.

Anyone heard of precision fuel pumps? Am I gonna have to do this again next year?
