I honestly can't tell you the last time I changed my own oil in my trucks. I do the honda myself but the trucks it's just easier to throw the keys at service and have them do it

Not for me...

I stay away from oil change places and any mechanic not allowing me present on repair work.
An amateur at an oil change depot can easily strip the threads on your oil pan...
leave half the old oil in the engine, etc..
No one cares about other peoples investment/property more than the owner who worked hard to earn it.

I beg to differ. I'd welcome you to walk through the shop were I work. I work with 8 of the best techs in the world. My days of changing my own oil in my trucks is over


So my moms old van the oil pan threads stripped out. And guess who covered the repair? The dealership because they were the only one who touched that van

Every European car I've done with low ground clearance has the cartridge style up on top. Still would be useless on those.

my dad's old 05 passat was actually stupid easy to change the oil on. That still had a spin on filter

Everything else was a complete over engenered dumpster fire

I guess I should say that "every European car" that I've done was a BMW 3 Series - varying years.
