Thinking
When I was a teenager, I used to go to Rad Shack all the time of parts and pieces, and to just hang out and look at stuff. I worked at there off and on both part- and full-time from 1983 until 1990. It started going downhill after I left. (Probably not *because* I left, though.)

Have you tried to buy electronic components lately? It's such a mess. Mouser et al. only want to sell by the pallet, and fleabay and Amazon are all "buy at your own risk" garbage. Replacing a burned-out part used to be easy but with no more Radio Shack, it's always a headache! I needed a DC adapter jack a few years back and it took me a week to find one.
I luckily have a place here locally that I can go get some stuff.... but it's not like the old days. EDIT: It's called Intermountain Fuse Supply. It won't let me post a link.
I've had decent luck with capacitors on Ebay so far. I just buy the good brands (Nichocon, Panasonic, Rubycon) and usually buy them at a higher rating than I need.

Me too, DJ. Well... the good Sears. Towards the end it kinda went to hell on us. I remember going to warranty a ratchet for my Dad, and they gave me a stupid kit in a bag to fix it instead.
Seeing all of the Easter Jeep Safari vids that have been posted lately made me remember when my Buddy tipped his XJ on Hells Gate. He's lucky it wasn't worse.

Hells Gate, a common trail out there.

Yea, Digi-key was my go-to as well, for awhile there. For purchasing caps mostly, and other odds and ends...they had just about everything.
