When I was a teenager, I used to go to Rad Shack all the time of parts and pieces, and to just hang out and look at stuff. I worked at there off and on both part- and full-time from 1983 until 1990. It started going downhill after I left. (Probably not *because* I left, though.)

Have you tried to buy electronic components lately? It's such a mess. Mouser et al. only want to sell by the pallet, and fleabay and Amazon are all "buy at your own risk" garbage. Replacing a burned-out part used to be easy but with no more Radio Shack, it's always a headache! I needed a DC adapter jack a few years back and it took me a week to find one.

I luckily have a place here locally that I can go get some stuff.... but it's not like the old days. EDIT: It's called Intermountain Fuse Supply. It won't let me post a link.

I've had decent luck with capacitors on Ebay so far. I just buy the good brands (Nichocon, Panasonic, Rubycon) and usually buy them at a higher rating than I need.

It was weird to see a full size Dodge SUV. I had to do a double take. Wasn't fast enough with my phone to get a good pic though.

Seen that happen quite a few times now. They can usually flip it back upright by hand and be on their way. Seen folks standing on the bumpers as well, so they don't flip or roll lol.

Hells Gate, a common trail out there.

I recall when Samxon (spelling? I think that's it) began the 'Bad Caps' craze years ago. I still have a tackle box with purchased caps stuffed in there, the greenish Nicho's I think. Various others I de-soldered from old PCB's. I used a old Military (Air Force) soldering/de-soldering kit made by Weller in a metal case for the Military my uncle gave me. I still have that and it's fully functional. That kit has everything. Had to customize/refurbish quite awhile ago, but was still able to find the parts through e bay.

Yea, Digi-key was my go-to as well, for awhile there. For purchasing caps mostly, and other odds and ends...they had just about everything.

Wish I knew where my good Low ESR analyzer went to...I've looked for it a couple times now.

Wow that's crazy, sort of the same. Never worked there but recall the guy that did who was very knowledgeable. Plastered him with questions frequently...you ever have one of those customers lol. Forgot all about those mags until you posted this lol....but yep!

We must come from the same time frame I expect lol.
