Not having any fun with this boys. With the 2 hrs of daylight I had left I got everything disconnected ready to pull the dash back. I'll pick up the blend door tmrw and hopefully have her finished.

Must have missed it somewhere.... what's your project? Are you doing the heater core?

...... Drillrig, I am very much interested in your tweeter install. Do you have it documented on here? What tweets are they? My oldies are good, but I've got one that cuts out from time to time. Fairly annoying, LOL.

Yes sir, doing the heater core. The tweeter install is not on here but it's pretty straight forward. I'm using Alpine Type-R components in the front doors. The midrange woofer has the crossover built in making the install really easy. I pretty much picked the spot and drilled a hole the diameter stated in the speakers directions.

I'm also using Type-R coaxials in the rear doors and an Alpine MRX-F65 for the door speakers. They are running at 110 watts each and have been for 3 years no problems.

Oh almost forgot, the Alpine speakers came with a bracket to switch from the 5x7 to a 6.5" woofer on the midrange. That was one of the biggest selling points for me. Round speakers are proven to be better for sound quality.

Nice, thanks for the info. I've got Pioneer D-Series 6X8's in mine, which sound stellar for everything but highs. They are only 2-way anyway, so I put some old Optimus (Radio Shack) tweeters I've had in my Mustang. Between those 4 Pioneers, the tweets, and my little sub, it sounds pretty good. The tweeter cutting out though it driving me nuts, LOL.... need to get some new ones, and I dig your location. The drivers side is a bit different, I'me sure?

2way coaxials (built in tweeter) are what most people run and they are usually good. It's when you get to 3 and 4 way speakers that sound like garbage. 6x8! That's what I meant, I always get those confused with 5x7.

The drivers side is a bit different, but not much. I tried to make it look as factory as possible with placement while keeping the tweeter as close to the midrange as possible for sound quality. I'll take a pic tomorrow to show you.

Is there a way to tell if the actual heater core is leaking? After getting it out am pulling off the lines I noticed moisture on the lines on the "quick disconnects". Sitting here wondering if the core was even the culprit to begin with.

Should I re-use these lines? Or buy new ones? Or just replace the disconnects? This is turning into a project.

Doesn't look bad from that side (to me). I've always seen visual evidence of a leak. I am pretty sure that either AK or Brew just recently posted replacement ends for the hoses (in another thread). I'll poke around and see if I can find them.

Motorcraft KT83 - I think O'Reilly actually carries these.

So I guess I would cut off the crimped on ends and just use some hose clamps on the new disconnects?
