Thinking
The virus has struck home and it sucks. As I've mentioned in the last couple of months my sister has been in hospitals since the end of June. She was transferred from the rehab center last night to the hospital for emergency surgery and the surgeon called this morning to say he doesn't think she's going to survive. My nephew has talked to him since and he's on his way here from Virginia on the advice of the surgeon because it's become this immediate this fast. Actually both of them are on their way here. Because of the virus she can only have one visitor. That's not one at a time. It's just the one consistent visitor during her entire stay. Because of this I didn't go today and left it open for one of the nephews. What this virus has done to us and changed our lives really sucks. Everyone take care of yourself and yours. It's the only option for now.
Sorry to hear you have family medical problems with Covid 19. My cousin lost to in-laws to it in June in Washington state. I've lost one friend to it. It's bad to some, for sure.
Yes White, that's what's going on. She doesn't have the virus but because of the virus everything at the hospital is closed down with restricted access. There's only one entrance open with a nurse to take temperatures and direct the people that do get in on where to go and a security guard. Fortunately after my post I got a call from the surgeon telling me to come for an end of life visit but that it would be my last time unless something miraculous happens. She couldn't communicate but it was obvious she understood I was there which was at least something more than I expected. My post was about how the virus has effected everything regardless of whether the causes are directly or indirectly involved.
I appreciate the kind words and sympathy. This is hard.
Ak, sorry for not getting to finish my last. My granddaughter got off work to help with taking care of some last minute business for my sister, contacting people and getting things ready for those headed to town. Except for a few, unplanned minutes here and there I haven't had the time to adequately respond. I believe you had told us about being close to someone who was lost to Covid but I didn't realize you lost both a friend and two in-laws of your cousin's. That may just be my memory again? Regardless I'm sorry to hear this. As I explained to White, I'm not losing my sister to Covid but Covid is playing more than a small part in effecting how we've become accustomed to dealing with these things. There's nothing easy about going through this stuff as it is without what this damn virus is doing to everyone. I'm sorry for your losses and can relate now to the difference between hearing about or witnessing from a distance the effects of the virus and actually experiencing them. I can't imagine what it must be like for those that are or have be isolated from their friends and family at a time like this.
I'm sad for both of you AK, and Rivers. These are some strange moments in history that I'd rather not be a part of.
Utah is full of two types of people. People like me, the "just wear your damn mask" people, or the "ain't nobody gonna make me wear no mask" people. So the last I heard, we have the highest rate of positive tests in the country right now. I believe that it's around 13 percent of the people tested are positive. The state made a bonehead move early yesterday morning and also announced that our death rate was under one percent.... .68% IIRC. I believe that also said that is either the lowest, or one of the lowest numbers in the country. So the anti-maskers are just going to continue to grow in numbers.
I am not personally scared that I would die from it. I am scared, however, that there are a lot of long term effects that we don't know about yet. Recovering from it doesn't necessarily mean you recovered from it, if you know what I mean.

Rivers, AK, I'm sorry to hear this mess is having such a large impact on you and yours.
Whitey: You guys are doing fairly well comparatively. There are other states at or above 25% including Wisconsin at 27% where officials are almost pleading with someone to cancel their rally tonight.

P. S. Do yourselves a favor and avoid the comments.

About the death rate it's hard to tell what's really going on. The death rate drastically dropped when a pack of governors excluded a lot of secondary causes as being Covid. For example, A lot of senior citizens in Florida lost the Covid battle to pneumonia brought on by Covid. Their deaths are not being documented as Covid or Covid related but as pneumonia only and not making it to the daily count we can't avoid hearing every day. Pneumonia is just one of the many possibilities being discarded.
