Not sure who is calling who unintelligent.... I ended up in a rush to get here so I just hooked up to my trailer and took off. Gas mileage with the trailer in the mountains is awful...attribute this to a worn out motor, heavy wheels and 35 inch tires, and factory 3.55 gears. Had to keep it out of overdrive for almost all of Kentucky and Tennessee. Though about removing my bed too, but ran out of time. Not to mention didn't have another person to help remove and also don't have an engine hoist etc

Hey. You made it and picked it up, right? Then all is good. Glad you got what you wanted. Now get it home and get your buddies. I hope your current bed's bolts come out without a lot of problem. Your old bed must of been a real piece of work, for you to drive so far for another.

If iirc his current bed and tailgate are in rough shape and he got a really good deal on this whole setup.

I'm still here in TN. Brother lives down here and a friend came with to visit him as well. I planned on just coming to visit, but found the bed was only 30 miles from his place so I figured I may as well. Not to mention it's the right color, in great shape, and comes with the tailgate for only $300. 1/3 that it would cost me to buy the same deal in my area. Getting the bed here in a couple hours. I've got a Dorman bed bolt kit on mine. Had to cut 3 of my old bed bolts off. Already had it off twice, once for each rocker panel replacement. I'm pretty excited about the new one. Glad to be saving my truck from the rust instead of just selling it off and buying a new one

Well, I can leave that right there, no problem.

Safety was the priority is all. In this instance and apparently, it was just me.

I remember that post as I added my info in that one also.
Thanks. Do you remember where lol

I'll try to get everything in this post and thanks for your patience as I haven't had much lately.
I was just thinking about replacing the entire unit with a new part. BUT, not if the accumulator is going to contaminate it (condenser/compressor or whatnot) when I hook it up. I'll loose my air conditioning capabilities because the charge will bleed out during the swap. Not worried about that right now. Can I just swap in a new unit, compressor completely new unit without any repercussions of systems other than air conditioning ?

I heard when work on this system, it's best to go though everything at once vs piecing it in at different times. Do you guys have that kind of experience with this system ?

Not sure if I should gut everything and do it as a hole right now, or can get away with a compressor/condenser unit...leave the accumulator alone for now. Honestly, I don't want to do anything lol, my gut is telling me to take care of it now. It's a little weak (factory original 340,000 miles) and had some hints earlier this year that somethings not right with it. Worse case, it will lock up, truck will be stranded. I definitely won't let that engine over heat or get hot, won't go anywhere without a belt is what I'm getting at. I'll hoof it.

I'm not an AC tech but I've done some factory AC work, but am certainly not certified in that area. Changing out known bad parts on a work order is one thing, repairing a faulty unknown, is another. Charging the system and testing for leaks, piece of cake. I never had to chance to go to the tech school on AC. I went into parts/warranty instead, and gave up the line tech position. Best personal move I ever did.

Don't overlook the orifice, as it is something that needs cleaned or replaced for sure when doing a change and charge. Damn things come out black as night, and full of contaminants. Don't forget to flush the entire system to get rid of anything that might contaminate the new parts.

I know we have guys on here that are AC guru's. I saw some of the stuff they posted, and they seemed to be on top of it quite well.
