Default Squeak

Hello everyone, been a while since I posted.

I have had an odd noise develop lately. When I drive my truck up to operating temp, then stop for a little bit (10mins-1.5 hours) and start it back it, it will squeak from the front passenger area. It'll change with the RPM's sometimes and then it'll stop once I start driving or getting the RPM's up enough. It sounded like a belt or the belt tensioner to me, so I pulled the belt off and started the truck up, absolutely not change, so I know it has nothing to do with the pulleys.

Someone suggested piston slap? But that should make more of a "slapping" noise wouldn't it?

Also, on a separate note, my transmission OD light has flashed a couple of times during start up and then it goes away. One time, I could have sworn I heard a "rushing" type sound coming from the transmission. I am not sure if it is related or not. The transmission shifts fine and doesn't slip.

Is it possible it could be coming from the bell housing area? Sounds like torque converter or front pump could be going out.

It kind of does sound like it is coming from that area. How can I tell if the torque converter is going out?

That would not be a fun time...

Right under the oil pan. If the squeak is closer to the bell housing then I like that torque converter answer much better.

All I get is a pic.

Based off your description, I would say torque converter or your front pump on the trans. What does your trans fluid look like?

NOTE: A front pump will usually start as a squeak, and develop into a whine.
