Default Muffler

I have a 1998 f-150 with the 4.6 liter v8. I have all stock pipes and muffler and I want it to sound louder and manly. Would putting an aftermarket flowmaster muffler make it louder? I don't want to spend the money on the whole system. So would just putting an aftermarket muffler help? If so, which one would be the loudest?

Go true straight pipe, should make it sound pretty throaty.
Flowmaster 44's are pretty nice, check out some vids on youtube and get familiarized with the kind of exhaust "note" you are going for and that should put you in the right direction as far as what to go with.

If your trying to keep it legal go with a single chamber muffler such as the flowmaster 10

This is the '87-'96 section. Not that we can't answer a generic muffler question but those with your truck will know better than us that have real motors.
