I'm at a loss here. I went by the truck and tried to plug in the modual that I have and it's different plug... The modual has 3 wires and the plug from the truck has 2 wires...
The one had I got from the junkyard the other day had 5 wires... And no plug... It was wired right in.
I will post photos of what I have later. Here is a picture of the one I returned to the junk yard.
Edit. The modual I have looks different than this one. It is encased in a steel box.

Here are the pictures of the module that I have and the plug. The black plug is on the truck. White is on the module.

That's the one! Thank you>!
Why can't I find that module on any of the trucks I've seen in the junk yards? Is it because my truck came from the USA? And I'm in Canada?
Never the less. Thanks again.
In the mean time I've modified the light sensor under the surfboard...
I was over after work and took it apart and stuck a piece of black electrical tape to the sensor on the board. You wouldn't know unless you opend the sensor and took out the board. I think I will run it through the safety test like that as now the lights come on once you start it and stay on. (As long as the switch is in the auto position.)

I'm having a weird issue, when my lamps are in the (0) position the lights want to stay on with the key in, when i switch to auto lamps they act as auto lamps, on when black covering, and off during the day. I dont know whats wrong, i did pull the board out of the sensor and it acts as it should in the auto mode. I replaced the switch assembly and all functions work. Here's a picture of the setting I'm talking about, are they supposed to come on? I would think not, it almost feels like a broken ground not completing a circuit... Idk, any help is greatly appreciated. **note - I added the surfboard with the sensor so I'm not sure how they are supposed to function, i was under the impression they work like normal but will now work in the auto position. Hopefully you guys can shed some light on this issue.. Thanks! also when I bought the truck the headlight switch assembly had the (autolamp) function but no surfboard w/ the sensor. Weird, I'm stumped.

your my hero. I've been trying a few days with no luck on the problem. I am going to drive around today with the switch in the O position and see if the lights will "learn" and turn off but I'm thinking they wont.

I think you have a bad auto light sensor the one you got from the junk yard if you unplug that switch do your lights function normally? I would get another one from a junk yard

yessir, if i have them in the off position and unplug the sensor the lights go out, and function properly, is there a way to just replace the sensor? I tried looking around might have to check the sensor for a part number. I noticed a weird "double click" when switching from auto to off, almost like its tripping a circuit kind of sound. Doesn't sound normal, I've already replaced the headlight switch so the only thing it could be at this point is the sensor. I'm guessing.

Keep it in auto mode then?

Have you unhooked the battery since you installed the sensor and switch? Maybe the GEM needs to be reset?
