That's what I'm probably gonna do.

I don't think running stock and been knocking for 20k should be used in the same sentence lol

Maybe not lol. Still feels strong. Speaking of which...anyone on here have any idea what it could be? Every time I cold start the truck it knocks pretty good until it's 100% warmed up. It increases and decreases with the engine RPM so I'm assuming it's probably in the main rotating assembly. The truck has a little valve train noise as well but that isn't too bad. It gets wayyyyy worse the colder it is too. Winter early mornings are always the most concerning because it knocks super loud, but when it's warmer out it isn't quite as bad. I originally thought rod knock but normally rod knock is the exact opposite. I doubt it's piston slap

Also if it's a concern, I found some receipts that came with the truck where the owner put 10w-40 in it....what a dumbass

Kind of seems like a snake oil deal to me. 10W40 is sometimes used to get rid of engine sounds when you're selling a vehicle.

No the receipt was from 2001 and had like 11,000ish miles marked on it and listed 10w-40

I think the owner may have ran 10w-40 for the whole life of the truck. I know that's too thick for the passages though. Would it be worth a shot to try running 10w-40 my next oil change? Or would I be causing more damage

I personally would just stay with 5W-20 (I assume that's what you're using now). If you can, maybe get a video of your noise and post it. Could be valve lash adjusters, or something a little less severe. Whatever you do, don't Seafoam it though.

I have been reading this as wd40 for some damn reason and was in complete disbelief until I finally read it correctly. Lol

You can try it but honestly I think it will just make it worse.

I've been running 5w-30 Mobil 1. I'll try to get a video sometime soon but I'm on spring break right now. I was actually going to seafoam it soon haha. What makes you say to not use seafoam??
