Agreed. I've got about $2500 in a swap that when maxed out is capable of 400 rear wheel. Something not feasible with a $6000-8000 coyote swap.
Definitely won't match the reliability or mpg improvements though

The coyote swap is cool, but unless you plan on building it I don't see the appeal. A boosted and cammed 5.0 would be sweet, but a stock 5.0 isn't ahead of a lightning swap, it just cost 4 times as much lol.

yeah having the extra gears would be convenient.

All you would need is a stand alone teams controller.

I wonder if you could find all the wiring diagrams for the coyote PCM and all the diagrams for the 5.4 and have the coyote computer run the 10th gen systems. basically have the coyote computer run everything that the 5.4 computer would've been running. connect the wires for them.

maybe if you could find PCM pinouts then you could see what all is feeding into and out of the PCM for both computers to see what they both have control of.

is there really anything in our trucks that can't run standalone without the PCM? from a 97/98 standpoint, so pre PATS.

looking at eBay I was seeing some coyote truck motors pulled for $2500. so that's not terrible compared to it. but still would need more to go into all the other ends like engine and trans control & all other things within the truck that need to work.

If I was going to drop that kind of cash I would be going with a 6.2.
