Hmmm I wonder what a port and polish job would do for a na engine.

well it's just that that's a lot of money for minimal gains that you really aren't going to notice unless until you hit the mid to upper rpm's. That's what I dislike about the 5.4 and 4.6..yes they are good engines but it takes so much money to any kind of performance out of them but then again they weren't built for performance like the LS

Ya, even being OBO, after shipping, those heads probably will still be $1,800 which is about what I have in the L-Swap parts now. Im all about the most bang for the littlest buck.
Most bang...maybe that's a bad omen

Default Thread appreciation.

Hello gents. Great thread. Please excuse me if my question has been previously addressed. I hope this isn't considerd stepping on your thread. I am only through page 233, taking notes. Lots of info. I have a 98 4x4 4.6l which I bought new. I have finished the inside and outside after years of abuse. I plan on a few engine mods / upgrade once I have a better understanding of available options. I would really like to regear now for drivability while collecting parts. Stock 3:55. I was thinking 4:10's? I plan on keeping it modest, nothing radical. What gears are y'all running? This dang thread is about to lighten my wallet.

Gears depend on tire size. 33-34" get 4.10s,35-36" 4.56,37-38" 4.88 39.5+ 5.13.
Everyone has different opinions on gears, but those are mine.

Also depends on how much highway driving you do / will be doing with the truck. Don't want too high of gearing if you'll be on the highway a lot
