Engine Builders talk.
They're not as bad as you'd think. I do agree though they've had some play. Mileage is unknown... They came out of an '02 4x4 with a procharger.
That's all I have. I figured they'd be plenty good for a break in motor for the 4x4, I'm sure they'll do what they're suppose to while I dial in the shocks and brakes, once I get it going.
If found a small spot on my rocker a few months ago. I'm just going to let it be till I'm done with most everything else.
I can do everything myself including spraying the truck. But my issue mainly is the entire truck needs to be painted. I have many other things I need to take care of first, I need a vehicle with more room. I am actively seeking a 10th Gen KR SCREW.
If the cab and lower bed panels are okay, repairing and further protecting the RP's is definitely worth it...
That's only if you want to keep the truck. If your contemplating a new ride, yea now is probably a good time to broom her.
The rockers, if rust is just beginning to develop on the outside, it could be an easy fix. That's if you noticed it in time. You could most likley get away with a patch if it's an isolated spot. If you have a few days, that should give you time enough to at least have it primed in the area. Open up, pull all the plugs, check it out. Clean it up inside the best you can then use that encapsulator thru all the different factory plug holes in the inside rocker drop-down (rust encapsulator, - heard that Eastwood stuff is good) before welding in the patch. You can also use a product called 'weld thru' on the patch as that will seal repair via the chemical reaction that takes place when welding in.

Hows the inner rocker, right at the lip or bend at the bottom ? If that part of the inner rocker is good, - then it's still a fairly easy repair. But if that bottom edge is gone as well, then your looking at more time for sure. As bad as my rockers were, that section of mine inner was just bad enough to were it needs to be repaired. From the bottom up about 2" . That really isn't too bad as well since the piece can easily spot welded in and sealed. Well, I'll let you know, I'm starting that fix in about a week lol.

Tim, you've been in the club for a while and didn't even know it. LOL. You're already friends with me and a few others on FB & various other platforms. It's cool meeting people with similar interests and aspirations. Love your Harley truck, but I'm dying to see the 4x4 completed! You should bring it over to the Iron Horse Mud Ranch in Perry, Fl and see how it stacks up against real competition.
