I feel as though I could build an entire 500hp car for under 40k lol

you could build a lot more than that. Take a clean sn95 roller mustang body with 40k worth of work and you'd be taking out new shelbys and a lot more. Whatever engine/trans combo. You could gear it to kill almost any street car (red light special) or gear it to hang with a viper..25k in engine trans the rest in suspension etc.
Edit: not that vipers are great, I just meant to hang with cars that go 200mph

I think just the all aluminum sleeved block out of one of those is around 5-6k. I don't think they make the sleeved aluminum 5.4 blocks anymore. HOwever, I think I could find a better power plant for that range lol

Think that would be a project for rich folks with lots of time.

there is an 11' gt500 engine on eBay with 8700 miles for $10000..change the blower, get the t6060 trans that holds 700tq and you're drivetrain is done for less than 25k

Give me 40k..I'll build your car for 35k and keep the rest lol
