I'm not sure what the specifics are but your completely engaged by 1000. You don't want a stall if your going to be doing any more towing. Something s gonna give under a load.

So for instance if a dragster wanted to launch at 3500 RPM they would just put a 3500 rpm stall converter in??

And what would putting a lower stall converter in do?

On my engine for the cam I'm getting, I can run a stock converter, but it's recommend to bump up to a 2000 stall.

You got a lightning?!?!?

I run a 2000 stall in my truck from lentech, its a bit different that the stock one. I think stock is around 1600-1800. It allows a little more slipage on the highway but it locks in at just the right time. Kind of hard to explain but it makes the truck feel a bit more sporty. I know 2400 stall is common on lightnings too. Wouldn't exceed that number tho.

dont go pass 2000 if you do alot of towing too,

1600-1800 would be best. I have a 1800 and it will flash to 2200-2400. The problem is towing. Its a complete pain in the *** along with the added trans temps. Even with a huge cooler and electric fans it gets hotter than I would like while towing.

You missed the part where I am having loads of trouble with my truck. Can't figure out what's going on, but I finally got a check engine light today.

I bet it's a *30# code. Coil pack. Final # will be the cylinder that's misfiring.
