None had forged internals beside the crank. That was dependent on year, make, and factory

That's what I meant by that, for the crank. Do you know which factories had what? Cause I'm kinda curious to know what my 97 has..

It's a good question cman. But the truth is nobody knows. It's hit & miss. Only sure way is to check your crank.

Ahh okay. Well that's not going to happen any time soon then unless for whatever reason I need to drop the pan for something. And if that's the case then there's probably more problems than that lol. How many different factories were the 5.4s made in? I know the trucks were made I. A bunch of different factories cause my truck came out of the Norfolk VA factory but how many for the motors?

Ah okay so is forged better than cast? How much power can a cast crank handle? What are you running in your 97? Cast or did you swap it out?

Since we are talking pi swaps. If I were to take a 98 lower that is in good shape and swap out my heads and intake. 1) would I need to have a custom tune 2) what grade gas would be my minimum 3) what numbers could be realistically expected?
