Engine Builders talk.
Its a vent for the tcase. It goes on the exposed barb in the picture. Also I would tell your dad to pick up the V10. If he's towing it will pull better than the 6.2. They only thing I reccomend is changing the plugs. In 06 they still were using the dreaded 2 piece plugs. That changed in 07.

Need to get back up there and replace it
Ya he pulls an equipment trailer and a horse trailer: he is pretty anti diesel so looks like a low mile gasser
V10 is the way to go. Look at it this way. Ford Fleet options(550+) still use the V10 over the new 6.2. The 6.3 is ok but seems like a slug. The 3v V10 makes almost as much torque as the 6.0 PSD does. I owned one for a while and absolutely loved it. Would love to get another but dont have a need for a SD>
I don't know about that. Sure , if you can keep them running right.
Ford got away from the 4V and went 3V with it's own different set of problems. But when the 4V's are running right, it's a great engine...sing it now, -money money money monnney..
MyFXProject should have his new engine sitting as close to the truck as possible , -since he's not installing it yet. It should help with the blending.
Anyone know about the MAHLE question I asked. The navi engine I took apart had MAHLE and ford stamped/cast into the piston. Jferg and I don't think MAHLE made anything but forged. Is that right or did they make cast too?
Pretty sure theyt are 4032 aluminum. Should be fine for 550 hp. If over that go with the 2xxx
