Question Thinking of buying...

So my wife and I are looking at buying a 2004+ fx4 or lariat. Which searching she ran across this truck. I talked to a guy there and he was pretty helpful. Doesn't really have any options, but she loves that it is lifted and in our price range. I personally don't care for the head lights and think the exhaust is hanging down a little to much, but the car lot guy said that it was just because of the lift that it looks like that.

I hope I did this right, but what does everyone think about it? Anything I should ask besides the cam phasers and transmission? He said they sprayed down the engine and messed up 4 coil packs so they replaced those and it runs like "new"

Have the plugs been changed?

That exhaust looks weird. A suspension lift does not effect the exhaust.

They were suppose to send me more pictures of it today, but I haven't gotten any yet. I suppose they have, but will ask since they had to change some of the coil packs I would assume they changed the plugs.

That is what I thought about the exhaust to. The guy said it sounds "beefy" so maybe the old owner did some exhaust work and it wasn't replaced right? I would be putting dual exhaust on it anyways, put still would like to know why its hanging down.

Sadly this truck is about 5 hours away from us, so its nothing we would just hop in the car and go look at. If we decide on it, then we will go with the intent to buy it unless something is seriously wrong with it like the cam phasers. The guy said he just marked it down from $14995 to the $13995 because he wants it gone, but said he doesn't have much "wiggle" room. I believe if they want to sell it that bad then they will "wiggle" as much as need be

The 5.4 has an issue with breaking spark plugs, I would go into it assuming you need to change them, and a change at the dealership can top $500

I personally think thats a bit too much $ to begin with. I paid $14k out the door with a $1800 after market warranty for my truck. Yet it is only 2wd but still a fully loaded Supercrew Lariatand it only had 65k miles and 1 owner. I bought it from a GMC Dealer as well but i don know the owner. List was $14995. May want to try and get some free maintenance or atleast cam phasers and transmission checked first. That was my reasoning in buying the warranty.

The price seems a bit high. I willing to bet that you won't regret passing this one up.

The paint looks less than perfect on the bed and tailgate. Depending on the depth of the scratches, you may have some issues with chipping in the future

i paid 15 for an 04 fx4 with only 48,000 mi on the clock....granted mine is only a reg cab...are those water marks on the paint or is the paint that beat up....id be cautious of purchasing a used lifted truck with that many miles for that much money...never know what kind of abuse its seen...there are others in better shape for a lil more money...just my .02...

Unfortunately in the Kansas City area and around here, this is one of the lowest priced ones. Most around here have more miles and are $15,000+
We are wanting to try and find one with the bench seat up front which makes it even more difficult. Also since we might have to trade in my wifes car, we will be upside down and also have to buy from a dealer.
The max monthly we can go would be around $300...so i am guessing we will have a $1000 turn over in my wifes car which leaves us at around $14000 we can go to.
