I mean I know more air is better, but its a popular mod. I read there were proven dyno improvements.

So can anyone give me info on what the gotts mod increases preformance wise?

My step dad was giving me **** for putting pvc on my truck. Haha I couldn't telk him anything besides more air?!

Then his response was so more gas. And I don't believe that to be true.

I just did a 80 mile round trip got 19.7 mpg. My first trip after I did the gotts.

Default Did the Mod...

I followed a few different tips that are in this thread for my Gotts mod. I used my bench grinder to reduce the diameter of the PVC. Duct tape was used to mark the PVC at 2 1/2 inches for the wheel well. I took the gasket from the intake and cut it to fit the pipe for a seal to the wheel well. I cleaned the MAF and the TB while I was there. Put it all together, started the truck and started to back it onto the road and the CEL came on. Back to the garage. I don't have a scan tool, so I figured I would pull the battery again... then I saw it. I neglected to plug in the MAF! I will try it tomorrow, but I bet it will be better. Sure helps to have everything connected!

I'm curious... has anyone done a direct off set hood scoop to pull in more air into the air filter compartment? I'm curious if that might push more air in? I might check into this...

It's unnecessary since the gotts mod flows more air than the engine can use already. A hood scoop would only be useful if using a superchager or turbo.

I have a '13, and this thread is very interesting - so I just went out and looked - and it all looks pretty different on first glance. I'll definitely look a little more deeply into it!

Your 13 is already opened up as much as it can in through the fender well, and already flows way more air than the 5.0 or even the Eco can use, your best bet, is a drop in AEM filter. or K&N if you want.

And a custom tune or two

Many thanks. K&N 63-2581 will be in tomorrow. Between this and today's $50 muffler delete, I think I'll have the loudest truck on my block. Midlife Crisis #2.
