My truck is not here right now or I'd snap a pic. Sorry!
What are the exact measurments of the hole in the wheelwell? I'm doing this mod together with K&N filter for the best result.

Here's a shot of the Gotts mod installed. The hole in the wheelwell is approximately 3 1/2" wide and 3" high, give or take, shaped like a flattened circle, sort of. I heated the ABS over the gas stove in my kitchen (wifey was VERY concerned!) until it was just barely soft enough to flatten. I used an oveglove to do the shaping, the pipe gets rather hot before it softens enough to shape! I then took it outside and test-fit it, and had to take it back inside for another heating/shaping session before it fit properly. I inserted the pipe into the wheelwell while it was hot, just in case it needed a bit more shaping...

I had removed the stock intake pipe to do this, so after the Gotts pipe was in place I simply inserted the end of the pipe into the intake and installed the intake. No clamping necessary, as the ABS pipe is a snug fit inside the intake. Besides, this all happens well before the air filter anyway, so a tiny bit of leakage won't affect a thing.

I didn't use any sealant around the pipe at the wheelwell. It moves around a bit in the hole (up and down, not in and out), and may rattle some over rough ground. The coolant overflow line will also bounce on the pipe and make some noise, you may want to zip-tie it up out of the way. I haven't done either on this truck, but this one is my wife's and doesn't see a lot of serious off-road use.

Here's the stock snorkel. The snorkel itself is about 10" long. About 2 5/8" extends into the wheelwell. I cut my ABS pipe to 12", because I wanted a good overlap inside the stock intake. I inserted the pipe only about 2" into the wheelwell. You'll see when you get the snorkel out how much room there is inside the well. There's a lot of space in there.

As far as using a K&N, it's my understanding that the stock paper filter is more effective at keeping dust out of the engine. They're cheap, I keep a new one on hand and swap it out as needed. They are SO easy to check and change, I look at mine about once a month while refueling. I work in dusty conditions, so I'll swap in a new filter about 4 times a year...

Oh, and for the record, I have noticed a slight increase in WOT intake noise, and zero change in fuel mileage or performance. Zip, slant, squat, doodly, nada.

Thank you very much for detailed response and well, some people say that it's stupid not to do this mod, some say that it's pointless, well i don't know, i guess I'll do it and see for myself.

And about the K&N, technicaly, that filter traps far more dust than paper filter because of the oil, and just the general structure of the filter, most people complain that it's actually worse for your vehicle, however 9 out of 10 times the reason for that is that people do not maintain the filter properly, but i don't know haha, worst case scenerio is changing back to the paper filter.

And also, i have 03 F150 so it might be a little bit different, but yeah generally speaking it's quite the same.

I run K&N in my Eclipse and my Buell, but because the truck sees so much dust I find it easier to swap in a new filter than to clean a K&N "in the field."

I never looked into what the Gotts mod consisted of because I normally don't change much from the factory. But I did notice the big restriction in the fresh air intake after I bought my '05 new. Turns out I did the mod and never knew I had "The Gotts Mod"! Even if it doesn't do much, I feel the engine breathes better...

It allows your engine to breath like it needs to be able to. It's not that you gain HP or anything, more of just freezing it up or unleashing it I suppose you could say.

Has anyone replaced the resonator and tubing from the air filter to the fender wall?
