Sync update - cannot find installation files
What's bad is that in the instructions she gives on how to use the commands, it says Bluetooth just fine. Oh well maybe when they get the update figured out it will be fixed
Hey everyone,
Check that your date and time are set properly on your system prior to trying to install the update!!!
I was previously getting the 'installation files not found' message and over the weekend my buddy noticed when I started the truck that the date was 2014. He casually mentioned I needed to set my time and when he said that I realized that an incorrect date could be causing problems with the update. Today, I set the date and time properly; retried the update and it installed just fine. The system rebooted once and the overall update took about 7 minutes or so.
Good luck to everyone and report back if you have any luck.

So, in one of the other several threads going on Sync, how it sucks, and how it's latest updates do not work, as well as in a thread on Reddit, I found a few guys who have gotten the update to work by playing around with the code in the .lst files. I tried that at first, to no avail. Today, I decided to compare the files loaded on my USB to the files on my hard drive from the update download, and discovered that when the files unzipped, several of the .cab files were missing. I added them to the flash drive, made the changes I've seen to the .lst files in Notepad, and I'm going to give them a shot and report back (and if that doesn't work, I'll be out in the truck with my laptop, tablet, and flash drive until it either works, or I yank the stock stereo and throw my Pioneer back in it and start sleeping in the truck with a gun!).
UPDATE: It worked! The update installed after I fixed the problems with the update as downloaded!!! Now we see if this update is worth a damn.

What did you have to change in the .lst files?
In the smaller one I didn't have to change anything (some others reportedly have with Ford Fusions), in the larger one there are too many Windows 5.8 mobile lines (you'll see them if you open the file with Notepad) delete everything above the last one of those, make sure when you unzipped that all of the .cab files were copied. Do all of the above at your own risk, if you brick your Sync it's not on me.
It worked for me. This is the great thing about this forum and Reddit. People from all over figured out different things that worked. Thank you to everyone that posted tidbits of info I was able to use to figure this out. Zero thanks go to FordIVTteam, suggesting to someone that has already downloaded the update to check for an update? Really?
