And no iphones do not work with the F150.

Not the old SYNC or the new MyFord touch found on the 13's work with iphone.

To the OP, i have a Note 2 and it works fine. Not perfect as sometimes it will not download the message, or it will tell you that the message could not be sent. But it does send it.

There is a work around to get iPhones (4S and 5) to receive text messages.

If your phone doesn't have the option to "Show Notifications" you have to go through the process in the link above (post 39) and it will work. I did it, and my 2013 F150 will now read incoming text messages. I use Siri to send messages.

Its funny, I have a HTC EVO V 3D phone, I can pair it with my 2013 Lariat and the phone part works great, but the text comes up as Blue Tooth device not compatable. I look on the Sync MFT compatibility chart and it says text and all should work. So I just downloaded the newest update with the A4 SD card for NAV, paired it again, and still just phone works with the truck. Going to get a hold of a rep and see if maybe its because I use Virgin Mobile versus Sprint or a contract company. Thats about the only thing I can think of that I havent tried yet. I dont need it text, but if its a compatible phone on the list, it should still work.

Do you have the latest update for Sync in your truck? I'm not sure what else would prevent your setup from working.

I think the only ones able to get it to work are the 2013's with the MyFordTouch. But for the record mine is a 2012 NAV Gen1 4.1.4.T with iPhone 5 and iOS 6.1.

Are you using BT audio? That's the only way for the text tone to come through is if your listening to music off your phone over BT.
