syncmyride says I have Sync VersionGen1 - V4.0.2. It shows no updates available and have even tried to manually flash it with no change.

I borrowed my dads Galaxy S3 this weekend and was able to get it to work with no issue.

And that's why the text message noise doesn't come over the stereo. That's standard Bluetooth protocol

If your phone doesn't have the option to "Show Notifications" you have to go through the process in the link above (post 39) and it will work. I did it, and my 2013 F150 will now read incoming text messages. I use Siri to send messages.
My 13 worked. But I had to go through this process for my wife's 11 Edge with MFT and her 4S. Worked perfectly!

Definitely worked after trying this method! Not sure if the release of 6.1 helped but its working now. Now if only I could have time to figure out how to send messages back....

Thanks!

Where did you find "Turn on 'Show Notifications'"?

My iPhone 4S doesn't show that anywhere.

I just found it exactly as described above, this must have been added on a latest software update IOS 6.1.
Will see if it works tomorrow but Siri is working just fine.

I don't have that option to turn on the "notifications" either on my iPhone 4 and I updated to the 6.1 iOS a few days ago. I don't really care whether the text pops up or not cause it's not that big of a deal to me.

But I will admit it is nice to know when I get a text cause if my phone is hooked up through Sync, then it's silent when going off, except for the phone calls and it's annoying to see you got a text 15 minutes ago vs. when it comes in right away.

I should elaborate that I'm currently using an iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1, but I initially got the notifications working on an iPhone 4 with iOS 6.0.1....so the setting was NOT dependent on the 6.1 upgrade for me.

I've attached a print screen from my iPhone 5 with iOS 6.1 so people can see what the setting looks like.
