Side lighting
I just installed Raptor style grille lights and Raptor 3rd break light (with daytime running lights) they both look great! the last (hopefully) thing i'd like to do with lighting is something on the side. I have AMP hidden running boards already which have 2 LED lights that turn on when the board is deployed. I was thinking of adding one yellow LED pod or strip mounted on the side just in front of the rear tire. Does anyone have any thoughts, ideas, or examples of side lights on their trucks?
I have been looking for something functional also, the stock HID'S provide zero side view at night. I noticed my parents 2011 ford edge has interesting shaped fogs, something like that mounted recessed on the sides of the bumper might work. It would definitely take some cutting, grinding, and shaping.
Like they say..."if it was easy, everyone would be doing it", I have looked underneath, there are not a lot of options, not would I want to flush mount lights in fenders or bedsides, but I bet someone has done this....
My neighbor has a F250 SCREW with 2-color LED strips on each side under the doors, but over the running boards.
When he activates the remote door locks, or opens the door(s), the LED strips are white--kinda like puddle lights. When parking and/or headlights are on, the LED strips are yellow.
Nice set-up, and have thought about chatting with him more about it so I can do it myself (not that I probably couldn't figure it out myself...)

I didn't add strips but I did recently install two side marker lights to each of my stock running boards. I drilled the boards about 2" from each end and installed 3/4" bullet style amber lights to each end of each board. Like these;

I sprayed them with VHT Nite Shade to knock the amber color down and also minimize the brightness of the lights when on.
Ran the lights off fuse #30 on the passenger kick panel fuse block. Used "add a circuit" and ran the wire through the bottom rocker sill cover where there is a rubber plug to get under the truck.

i'm in the process of doing this now with mine
just doing white leds above the running boards and the rear bumper i'll tap the dome light so when i unlock the truck the running boards and under the rear bumper will light up
already created the led strips (36 for above the running boards and 25 above the rear bumper) waiting for it to warm up a bit so i can install them and wire them up
Greg Owen, Old Smoky - how about some pics?
i'll try and get some pics of what I currently have with my running boards. i'm just looking for some side marker lights but not sure how to make them work with my running boards.
