It could be due to overtightening the clamp. If the screw was tight before the clamp was turned to the "lock" position, it's possible that too much torque was applied, and the plastic was sandwiched then twisted, causing a slight buckle. I saw it when I put mine on. I backed off completely, adjusted the screw, then installed them again.

I don't but yet I don't have factory flares if that makes a difference. You have to really tighten down on those hex screws to get it snug.

Hey your mudflaps look great. I was looking to do the same thing and paint my factory flaps Pueblo gold. I had factory tan flaps on my 2001 Kingranch but now they do not have them available for the 2010.
I wanted to know if you had any problems with the paint FLAKING off the flaps over time?? Did the paint stay on???? I have seen in the past with other mudflaps painted they had that problem. I am sure it was from not proper prep.. Thanks if u can send me any information on this...

Dave.

No problems with flaking so far. I prepped the mud flaps by lightly sanding them, washed them in Dawn, wiped them down with denatured alcohol, patted them down with a tack cloth and used the plastic parts adhesion promoter prior to painting. I wore latex gloves while washing and wiping them down to avoid getting finger prints on them. I used about 10 lightly misted coats of color (used a can and a half) waiting at least 5 mins between coats and 3 wet coats of clear coat waiting 10 minutes between coats. The black was hard to cover with the Pubelo Gold, if I did it again I'd use a light colored primer after the adhesion promoter instead of going straight to color coats.

Thanks guys, I called that place mentioned on page 5 and they can only offer me a price of $99 for the weathertechs. So looks like i'll be going a different route. Do you guys prefer OEM, WeatherTechs, or Husky.
