Have you looked at the Rousch CAI? That is most likely where I'm headed. The intake tube is a better fit for the cover (looks like).

Keep it going!
Actually, I was just browsing the Roush site. I was looking for a dyno chart to see how it compares to the AFE and K&N. I haven't found it yet. I am not thrilled with the look of the AFE, I would like to see it with a polished tube. I like the look of the K&N but I have been told that the intake tube is stock size and where the AFE is larger and may not work well with Mike's 5star tuning, although the dyno charts are similar on performance gains without the tune. Also, the Airaid kit for the 5.0 is supposed to be coming out soon. I wonder how it will look?

can you notch cover out for the intake tube then get some black plastic edgeing like they use on motor bike wind breaks, I know I bot some for around my snowmobile windshield. just to clean up the edge.

I think I would rather replace the intake tube with all those filters hanging off of it.

What amazes me is that you are showing that it can be done. So why didn't Ford just put this cover on and engineer the tubing or modify the cover some. Yeah it would cost money but I would of gladly paid a few hundred more on my $50k truck as at these new truck prices it wouldn't matter. It definitely makes the engine bay look 100% better, looks awesome!

Not yet, been a busy week. Trying to piece together some 3.5" tubing to replace the stock intake. Also, curious to see what the upcoming Airaid kit for the 5.0L will look like and how it works.

I just ordered some stuff from www.siliconeintakes.com to piece together a replacement intake tube with the stock air box. The parts should be here early next week.

You won't need these as you already have the AFE.

1 x1' Straight Aluminum Pipe, 3.5"$14.99
1 x3.5" Silicone 90° Elbow, Black$19.99
1 x3.5" Silicone 45° Elbow, Black$19.99
plus a few clamps
