Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio

Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Can Sync default to Bluetooth Audio?

Even my dealer rebooted / updated Sync (done last week) doesn't always default to Bluetooth Audio.

It's most noticeable with remote start, how does that even work? Does Sync or Bluetooth not become active until the key is turned and at that point it has to be manually done?

Hey NastyFFX4, I think you hit the nail on the head with that one.

I've been fighting these problems for quite a while as well and through my troubleshooting have come to find that my system can go sideways from time to time (though very rarely - it's been going for months without having to disconnect my battery) but it seems to go sideways within 3 times of starting my truck with the remote starter.

I don't entirely understand what the problem is or could be but I'm going in to the place the my remote starter originally came from (the only place that my dealer lets install them apparently). Reading up on how that stuff works, my assumption is that it has something to do with the "driver" setting in the truck. As I understand, 2 drivers are tracked within the truck and that is tied to things like seat positions, keyless entry codes etc. but I believe there is a kindof ghost driver available which the remote start is supposed to use when invoked in order to work with the system.

Obviously I don't understand this very well still/yet but maybe somebody out there has a better handle on it and could jump in? I will report back once I've been in to see the remote start people.

My truck defaults to whatever I last used. Currently that's the Bluetooth connection to my phone. It does this for my USB connected iPod Classic, CD, Radio and Phone.

Seems like mine simply remembers the last thing and picks up where it left off. Doesn't matter if I'm using the remote start or not (I pretty much always remote start) and it even continues on the playlist and song where it was as well. Even if I listened to something different on the phone itself.

2013 F150

My Samsung Galaxy S3 sync'd perfect, bluetooth audio. New Galaxy S6 doesn't work, won't pair. Is there a firmware update?

Don't ever update as long as it works correctly.

I guess I was asking if Ford had a firmware update. The Galaxy S6 is the latest product from Samsung... I will do the obvious and run over to the dealer and ask them, but sometimes it's like pulling teeth to get any info from them. Figured someone here might know.

Thanks

I have kind of an oddball question. I keep having the problem of STNC going sideways every month or so. It is an annoying inconvenience. I have always thought about replacing the head unit with a new one and the Maestro kit. My question is, if I do replace it and retain SYNC for the handsfree calling, will I continue to have these issues?

He was talking about going to the Ford website and checking there. You don't need to go to the dealer. Just put your vin number in here and it should tell you.

Oh, ok. Thanks so much for the link. I'll go check it out.

My galaxy S6 syncs to everything except the F-150 now. It pairs fine in my Mother's BMW, and my Wife's Honda Pilot, and my Galaxy Tab S, so I know it's not the phone.

***edit

Well I logged into the ford owner site and it says my system is up to date. Even lists my phone as compatible. Off to the dealer I go God have mercy on my soul
