Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio
Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Can Sync default to Bluetooth Audio?
None, how many years do you have? But considering I've got several close family members who are addicts who have spent a good amount of time in prison for their activities, I've had a lot of experience with their behavior and thought process. Trust me, they are not thinking rationally, they are not planning weeks, days or even hours ahead. The only thing they're concentrated on is their next fix. It was probably a junkie walking down the street Jonesing for their next score. Saw the car, the radio, didn't have any tools(obviously) and didn't even know what kind of radio it was or how much it was worth. I admit, it's entirely possible it was just a crack head from 5 miles away. But this has happened to him several times now, each time it was a quick and dirty hack of a theft that wasn't particularly successful. And it doesn't sound like a professional since a professional crew can strip a car to it's frame in minutes. And it seems like a lot of crackhead traffic from other neighborhoods. If this was the norm we all would have been ripped off numerous times now. Now, since he said he lives in a good neighborhood, it is also possible it could be someones family member that they're trying to protect or simply don't know they have a problem. Some addicts are good at hiding their problems from family members who are naive or in denial.
Now to finish this up, since you seem intent on personal, ad hominem attacks, I'm done discussing this with you. You've been hostile since you're first post. Typical internet warrior. Nothing can be gained from discussing this with you further.

The reason I'm fairly certain it was someone from the other side of town is because the local PD actually makes arrests in these cases fairly frequently. It's always either punk kids or junkies from the same few neighborhoods. They got good prints off the door of my truck and the CB, so there's a chance they'll make an arrest in this case too. There was at least one other break-in in my neighborhood that morning, happened while the officer responding to mine was taking prints.
All that is neither here nor there, this thread is really about Sync, how bad it sucks, how much worse 4.4 made it, it still not defaulting to USB or Bluetooth when you shut it off there, and what Ford's not bothering to do about it.

I thought it was very silly for you to call it out as if you were the detective on the case and had all of the facts figured out. I'm sure the guy who owns the truck feels the same way. None of us here have any idea who broke into the truck, etc but you chose to tell the guy to move to a nicer neighborhood. Do you know where he lives? Come on, it's insulting.
Criminals travel to rob all of the time. It's something law enforcement deals with day in and day out. Typically only the dumbest criminals rob in their own area or neighborhood since they could and often are recognized. Sure, you're right tweakers will do stupid stuff like that but we have no evidence to call it especially to tell a guy to move to a nicer neighborhood. Criminals don't have bounds and they like the richer areas.
Agreed.

Great information, I was not aware of voice commands, still learning about my truck lol. I had this same question and would love to have the bluetooth audio be the default connection. i'll try the VC.
Hi Crank Bait,
I'm happy to clear this up for you. When comparing different make and model year vehicles, it's important to note that they may be running different versions of SYNC software. The software installed depends on the current or prior vehicle owners and how frequently vehicle was updated. If you're in two completely different model year vehicles, their features may operate totally different.
For example, there was a time when the vehicle would default to the last channel used - even if it was Bluetooth audio. This created a concern for many customers as using Bluetooth does require an additional power load from the phone. Customers became anxious over not being able to control this behavior, as it may lead to overall battery consumption earlier than usual. So, per vehicle owner feedback, the latest version of software does not default to the Bluetooth audio channel. The best means of selecting this source is through the appropriate voice command BLUETOOTH AUDIO. Let me know if there are any questions.

WONDERFUL new glitch from Sync yesterday and today!
I shut the truck off Saturday night playing from USB like I always do. Since re-installing my factory stereo I've been pleasantly surprised to see it defaulting back to USB on start-up.
I should have known it wouldn't last.
For the past few days, I start it, it shows Sync and the song that was playing when I turned it off, plays nothing for 20 seconds, then switches itself to an AM or FM radio station.
I hate Sync.

I just don't understand why it is so hard to get SYNC working on the F150, when I can go rent an Edge or a Fusion with a 4.2" screen and SYNC and it works flawlessly. Just port one of those versions over and be done with it. On the Edge and Fusion, it even provides for using the buttons at the bottom of the screen to change the input method.
