Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio

Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Can Sync default to Bluetooth Audio?

I upgraded my 13 XLT's 4.2" screen system a while ago. It works okay in that it mostly reconnects to bluetooth audio and displays song titles and all that jazz. But it still likes to not link up with my S5 now and again... and I have to stop, shut the truck off, wait until the whole mess powers down and then restart. Then it works fine again.

Also it has happened 3 times now where the system will be playing a bluetooth audio song and suddenly just stop. The screen will say no bluetooth device connected at that moment although the bluetooth icon stays on. If you press the voice command button no voice commands will work at all.... the truck cannot hear you and just tells you over and over to say a command. I have to pull the Sync fuse under the dash to reset it and then it works for a month or so again.

My other thing is I have 2 2013 F150's with steering wheel controls, but one is basic sync and the other MFT. I have never ever accidentally switched songs while increasing volume in the MFT truck...... But this XLT almost every day will switch songs when I am hitting volume. Of course if I look at the wheel it never does it so I don't know if I am fat fingering here or I need the above TSB for the buttons performed. Who knows...... lol.

They need another upgrade lol.

Guess it's off to the dealer. I wouldn't be surprised if the module failed.
nastyffx4, so what ended up happening with your situation? i'm having a very similar situation happen with mine after this last update. everything was working fine for a few weeks and then all of a sudden it was like the mic went unresponsive and it couldn't pick up my voice anymore.. even if i try to connect it using the buttons, nothing happens, it just disconnects from bluetooth audio. now when i hit the sync command button on my steering wheel, the womans voice sounds like its scrubbed or sped up audio. this whole situation has driven me up the wall and made me wish i hadn't updated it in the first place because it was working just fine before...

Nope, haven't been able to get it into the dealer yet. I sent a PM to the Ford team on here and never heard back from them. I've had the issue where the mic isn't working and usually pulling the fuse or the battery cables for a few minutes does the trick.

If you have already done that then you might be in the same shape as me. I don't ever get the Bluetooth logo on my display now. I can still access voice commands but they won't do anything for Bluetooth audio. I feel just like you though. I wish I could go back to the first revision that came with my truck. I'm hoping to get it into the dealer this week so I'll post back with what happens.

Well took it in today and the Sync system had to be rebooted and reprogrammed. I hope this fixes all of my issues with Sync. I would love my truck again lol.

Yes you are going to be kicking yourself if that's all it is. It's the 2nd fuse from the top left. 15A / Blue (OEM) in the SJB. Anytime my mic went out that fixed it until the next time lol.

I drove a 2010 Ford Fusion for a while (rental) that was able to remember I was streaming audio from my Galaxy S4 smartphone when I got out to get gas (for example). It would reconnect and start playing automagically when I returned to the vehicle. It seems I can't get Sync do this in my 2013 truck.

So to play streaming music over bluetooth, I have to either navigate through the menus on the dash or I have to press the Sync button and say "Bluetooth Audio" then press it again and say "Play". Occassionally (rarely) I have to turn off bluetooth on the phone and turn it back on before it will connect. It's annoying because I have to jump through these hoops every time I get in the truck.

Does anyone have a way to get Sync to 'remember' this instead of always reverting back to Line-In?

I bought my 2010 fx4 two days ago. Took me a while to figure out how to stream music through Bluetooth. I was surprised when I came home for a couple hours then left again, started up my truck and it immediately started streaming from my iPhone again... I don't know, mine just does it

Yup. Posted a video of this problem to Ford. I have a whole case and discussion going with them for the last several months. Search for Sync 4.4 update.
