Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio

Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Can Sync default to Bluetooth Audio?

It's stupidity. Every time I hop in my current company vehicle (2014 Escape) it defaults to "bluetooth audio".
Ford is being obtuse, simple as that!

I know that only 24 people have "voted" but if FordIVTTeam is here - why can't they bring it to the big wigs?
That's what I want to know. My Menu clearly says that it's set to Autoplay, shouldn't that mean it should autoplay?

I was thinking about this again the other day, and the battery excuse doesn't even make sense. When mine defaults to line in, the truck still activates the bluetooth connection and even connects to the phone, so you're using battery power to maintain the connection either way.

And who cares anyway? It's not like you can't have a usb cord in the truck and just plug it into a lighter to charge it either way - that's generally when my phone gets charged - when I'm stationary for a bit, like in a vehicle, or at my desk.

I'll get that sometimes where it claims it's connected but the Bluetooth > Audio isn't working. I wonder where Ford is on this now? It would be nice to hear someone from the Ford team help us out.

I have been subscribed to this for a while, but haven't read it all and don't really have the time. But I have recently had two different 2013 Ford rentals. One was a 2013 Edge with MFT. That one defaulted to Bluetooth Audio when I was connected to that last. And even if it didn't it was much easier to choose it anyways with the touch screen.

The more frustrating part is a I had a 2013 Fusion with the 4.2" screen. It would automatically connect to bluetooth (like my truck), but it would autoplay from the bluetooth immediately if that was my last audio choice. If they can do it in the Fusion, there is no reason they can't do it in the truck. Unfortunately, I neglected to check the software version when I had the Fusion.

The radio is hands down the most hated part of my truck. I have learned to deal with always changing to the bluetooth audio, but it is just annoying. I would love to see a fix for this.

Same here, I cannot stand the audio sync system in my truck. I always listen to bluetooth so it's quite frustrating to have to say "bluetooth audio" every single time I turn my truck on. I've own several cars in the past with bluetooth and this has never been an issue. The excuse that they don't want it to drain you battery on your phone doesn't even hold water since the phone is STILL bluetoothed to the truck even if it's not defaulting to bluetooth audio.

Default Sync/audio/phone

Recently bought a 2011 F150 with a Sync/audio/phone system (SONY) that POSITIVELY sucks ! Been to two dealerships, they play around, upload, download, reset, disconnect battery, system remains F'd up (all at $90 + per hr.)! Misinterprets commands, doesn't sync consistently, can't find device, etc. The only thing that works is the map! Even took my Iphone to the Apple store cause Ford said it's the phone. Apple ran their magic and the phone is 100%. I think that the biggest problem is that dealerships don't have "specialists" to deal with computer probs., unlike Audi that has specially trained techs. One minute a Ford tech is changing oil, next minute he's expected to be a computer wiz !
Anybody know of someone in the Somerset County, NJ area that may be able to figure this out?

In some Ford vehicles the radio is called My Ford Touch and in others it's called SYNC. I'm pretty sure these systems are not the same. In 2009 I rented a Ford Escape with the SYNC system. Within the first week I had to do a factory reset as it could not remember how to turn the audio on for Bluetooth or USB music. What I did notice at the time was the start up screen proudly professed to be "Powered by Microsoft".

We can blame Ford all we like, but as I'm seeing more MFT systems I have a strong feeling SYNC is on it's way out as contracts expire. Trying to get out of a contract with Microsoft is equivalent to getting out of a contract with the Devil...

I feel bad for Ford for getting into bed with Microsoft. I'm sure they do also, but are too professional to say it on a public forum.

You are correct that Sync in a 2009 is not the same as My Ford Touch...

And there are many faces of Sync... - http://www.ford.com/technology/sync/

And, if you do some Googling, you'd find that Ford is rumored (back in February) to be dumping Microsoft for Blackberry's QNX. However, any future systems have no impact on current systems, so if you have any version of Sync the change means little.
