Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio

Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Can Sync default to Bluetooth Audio?

However, any future systems have no impact on current systems, so if you have any version of Sync the change means little.
Thanks, I'd never seen that page.

Yes I know and it makes me sad.
It's easy to bash Ford when it is in fact Microsoft's product that is causing us all this pain. Credit where credit is due
(Ok it takes 2 to tango, so blame should be shared)

Sync is a 100% Ford product regardless if Microsoft was contracted to provide the software. Many items on Ford vehicles are supplied by external vendors.

Also, Ford is a supporter of Android Auto. That's the next likely universal Automobile OS.

No matter what happens in the future, the only certainty is current Sync owners will be screwed. There will be no software fix. There will likely be hardware-software upgrade 3rd party kits to whatever is the new system. I doubt they will be cheap.

One minute a Ford tech is changing oil, next minute he's expected to be a computer wiz !
Anybody know of someone in the Somerset County, NJ area that may be able to figure this out?
I don't suppose your accent is a factor? No offense, but many Yankees are unaware of how badly they mangle the English language....

And I'm not defending Sync, but if you speak correctly, it works pretty well, and this thread is about the default anyhow, not how obtuse you find it to be.

Default Yankee's can speak English pretty well, actually!

Not wanting to get into a flame war, but that comment was a little unwarranted, IMHO.

Samantha, the Sync personality, understands me just fine. So does Siri. I was born in Brooklyn and raised in NY. Lived there for more than 40 years. So I qualify as a Yankee, for sure and I have a voice so deep, I've been told by some I sound like Barry White.

Yankee, or otherwise, all of us here like our trucks, let's stick with that.

I suspect the mike pickup is frizted. Maybe try to have that replaced?

You're The First, The Last, My Everything??

"Take it off, baby, take it all off. I want you the way you came into the world. "??

Do you say that to Samantha or Siri?

LOL

Imma buttuh yo bread!

I can hear it in my head. Lol

I wish you could customize the name of sync, so instead of the commands you could just say "(insert name) Bluetooth audio"

I'll be the first to admit that "b----" and/or "hey dip----" were my firtlst ideas... But still.

I voted. Only 41 for it so far. The fact that it doesn't auto connect is ridiculous but it looks like Ford won't be helping any customers. I also find it odd that some have newer versions of the basic sync yet the website tells me my 4.0.2 is up-to-date. I would love to be able to access the patches the dealers can install on my own. I don't really feel like taking time out of my work day or weekend to let them do it when I'm perfectly capable of downloading something and plugging a usb device into my truck.

No kidding. It's absolutely asinine that this is the case.

Default Interesting SYNC behavior yesterday...

Had my iPHONE5 running IOS 7.1.2 in the shop getting sleep / wake button replaced on recall and was using a loaner provided by Apple. Loaner set up like the original and linked to SYNC. Since I was going to pickup my iPHONE from Apple last night, I decided I would upgrade IOS to 8 before I returned the loaner to see if it would run ok on iPHONE5 and not be too laggy.

Started the upgrade at the office and then after it downloaded, left and plugged the phone into the dash mounted USB port. While phone was chewing on the upgrade and verfying the file was valid, SYNC began notifying of new EMAILS and would read them back if I pressed the listen button.

That was a surprise because it never did that before. I haven't played with it since I got the old phone back but I did a reset on SYNC today just because.

I think it is interesting that there is something that can cause SYNC and iPHONE to report / read incoming emails too. Sounds like a bug (but since it is Microsoft, it must be a feature).

If you travel at all, you quickly realize different regions have wide variations of the language.

Just like east coast Canadians butcher the language even worse. It causes havoc with voice activated systems, it's just a fact.
