Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio

Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

If Ford is telling you that's the latest version for you, it is, and be grateful, that's the last version I know of that worked right more than 50% of the time.

Well... 4.6 actually works about 60% of the time... it's somewhat better than 4.4 after a master reset after the install of the update that I had to fix because Ford broke it when they zipped the files and left 10 lines of trash code in it I had to delete to get it to work, and when it did work it took longer than normal to install and freaked me out and made me think I'd bricked my stereo for a minute there... then it crashed until I did a master reset to work about 10% better than 4.4, which worked worse than 4.2, which worked worse than 4.0.2.

SO BE DAMNED GLAD THAT FORD ISN'T SUBJECTING YOU TO ALL OF THAT!

Why?

Ford said 4.2 would fix what was wrong with 4.0.2, but it didn't, AND it took away the ability to default to BT Audio or USB.

Then Ford swore that 4.4 would fix everything, AND would fix the ability to default to BT Audio and USB... it not only didn't do any of those things, it slurred Syncbitch's voice, AND it disabled USB2, which a lot of people used!

Then Ford swore that 4.6 would fix everything that 4.2 and 4.4 messed up, and it didn't even get out of the gate before it stumbled and fell flat on it's face. Pretty much NOBODY could install it as-downloaded, it took some enterprising people on Reddit, this forum, a Mustang forum, and a Fusion forum, and a few people including myself compiling everything we learned and sharing it, for people to be able to make it work, and when it did work, and actually installed? The only things that were fixed were the slurred voice, Pandora integration (Seriously, it's freaking great, it's the one thing they've gotten right in any of the updates yet, so they'll probably break it with 4.7 or 4.8 if there is such a critter. Just how great is it? I can say "Play Artist Turnpike Troubadours" from USB, and it can't freaking find it, it'll start playing Ronnie Milsap or some other damned thing, but if I tell it to play "Turnpike Troubadours Radio" in Pandora mode? It gets it right every time! It's so damned nice!), and voice recognition was a tiny bit better. EVERTHING ELSE IS STILL BROKEN!

MSRP on my truck? $34000... having to fix the code to install the latest Sync update my damned self? Priceless. There's some things money can't buy, your F150 isn't one of them. Finding a glaring error in the code for the update with only one year of a high school computer programming class you took 16 years ago under your belt is, and both were brought to you by Ford.

Ford pulled it from the site. "Until there's a fix"

Last update performed in 2012 yet it's "up to date" 🙄

I'm sick of saying Bluetooth Audio. Line in, please say a command. Bluetooth Audio. Bluetooth Audio (or no device is connected right now, I will try to connect one).

You and me both... I love when I don't even get the Bluetooth logo on the display. End up having to restart the truck.. Half the time that works, the other half I end up pulling a fuse on the side of the road..

Mine defaults to FM Radio. This is especially wonderful when I've been listening to a quiet podcast or audiobook so I have the volume turned up really loud. I get 30 feet from the car and all of a sudden, I'm That Guy. Radio cranked, windows vibrating and thumping away to whatever radio station someone (other than me, because I never, ever listen to FM radio anymore) left it on.

As a few have said before, why not just make this a menu option.
"DEFAULT AUDIO: LAST SOURCE, FM, BLUETOOTH, etc"
(or just make it stay on what you selected, like every other vehicle ever)

I blame microsoft. It's been years though, even for microsoft I don't understand why this isn't fixed.

I was just in a Ford Fusion I rented, defaults to Bluetooth Audio upon startup every single time. I think this was a 2016.

Microsoft has not been involved with Sync for quite some time.
