The Ultimate MPG thread.
2.7L Extended Cab 4x4.
Put about 1800 KMs on it so far and im averaging about 13.7L/100 (17MPG) on the highway cruise controlled at 110KMH (65MPH).
I pray to god its the engine not being broken in and the -15ish celcius temperatures that are giving me this milage. Was hoping to get it around 12. A few days I was skipping around in 4x4 but only for about 100KM or so during a snowstorm.
I have babied the throttle as well.
Otherwise love the truck! Never thought I would buy a Ford pickup but that GM 5.3L is an old man at this point and only dbags drive dodges

.My Buddy has a 2015 F150 SC 2wd 331 rear end. 2.7 EB.
He has 5000 miles on his truck and he runs 70mph and he gets 25 mpg all the time on the interstate.
Just took about a 1300 mile road trip to Daytona this past week. I have owned my 13 FX4 3.5, Screw with a 6.5 bed for only about a month so this was the first time i had a chance at Hwy. miles. I averaged about 19.7 mpg for the whole trip ,and on the interstate I was running from 70 to 85 mph a majority of the time, Is this mileage in line with most everyone else.Just curious
the cold weather really takes a bite out of mileage. warming spring time temps should bring an improvement.
edit. reply was meant for post above yours. oops.

Don't know much about the 2.7, but my 3.5 works hard in 4x4 at 60mph, definitely a noticeable load on the engine and drivetrain.
I have done the exact same thing as you've stated above. That scenario will definitely effect mpg. But I run at 100k/60 mph. just dropping from 110/65 will result in a noticeable gain for me. and yes once the temp raises to plus 3 or 4c it will help a bit too.
Did the same as you decscribed , a little 4x4, -12c at 65 avg for 321 kilometers and it was a little over 2mpg loss than my regular drive on the exact same 321 kilometer route, slower, warmer and no 4x4
I had my trip 'B' with 5987 miles and mpg was 15.7 avg So yours with 1123 miles and 17 mpg is not that bad.
o yeah a head wind is very noticeable on mpg on these trucks
just my thoughts

Must be nice to be wealthy and have no worries. Most of us are middle class guys with bills and kids and we have to buy groceries after payday so every mile per gallon counts. For the average U.S. driver, 1 MPG equals about $15 per month. Doesn't matter if you drive a Prius or a Hummer H2, everybody is wise to try and save money at the pump so you can use it for other things.
