I think you made a good point that premium is cleaner...better for the engine. I'm somewhat reluctant to pay the extra on premium which can be an extra 7 to 12 dollars everytime you fill up the tank! It adds up over time! I like to save money so I can have my daily coffee!

What pique my interest here is why install catch can?
I'm going to drain the cans today and try to upload a picture of the GARBAGE that comes out of them.

Default I did some math...

A couple of years ago, I ran a tank of premium on a long trip to "clean things out". I tried it a few more times and noticed a 2-3 MPG improvement each time. I calculated the cost curves and figured that if premium was less than $.40 / Gal more than regular then it was worth the added cost. Interesting thing is that premium at the Costco near our house is often less than regular at other gas stations nearby; especially when prices become volatile. That was done when gas was about a dollar more per gallon than it is now. Not sure if that price delta changes as gas gets cheaper.

Any math majors here?

No math major here but I looked at it this way. I'm the type of person that likes to keep my trucks for a long long time. Hell, I mean I paid 38 thousand for the ecoboost. That's 38 grand of my hard earned coin. I do everything I can to ensure that this thing is not gonna let me down ( amsoil oil changes at every 7k, catch cans, etc. ) I think that running the premium fuel will keep things cleaner inside the engine along with the good drivability feeling that comes with it ( I can't run anything less than 93 Oct now bc of the tune, but when I first bought it I tried a tank of 87 first then 93. Like you said , my mileage was a little better with the 93, but I also felt like the truck had a little more pepp and ran a little smoother.it's all personal preference but I'll spend the extra $ on the fuel . also when towing ( i tow my 98 eeclipse out to Ohio every year for a shootout) it feels better.

Default 3 years of mileage history

In the process of trading in my 2012 for a 2015 and thought I should publish my mileage data out to the group. I have all of this information in EXCEL but the page makes me upload as PDF. Feel free to PM me so I can email you the direct files.

Lots of data should be every tank of gas!

This is to 18psi11xlt you mentioned you change oil at 7k with Amsoil.... My question is WHY???? your truck is equipped with a computer that tells you WHEN to change oil. My first oil change can at 12,000 miles...(2013 F- 150 Ecoboost) recommended by the truck computer. Second oil change was 23,000. I do both highway and city driving. My dealer changes my oil, free of charge, and uses a semi synthetic blend. I have used Amsoil for many many years in all my gas and diesel motors. My last truck was a 2003 F 350 that I got 40,000 miles between oil changes and that was sending samples to be annualized with recommendations that I still had more miles on oil changes.... WHERE is your savings... if you change oil at 7k when the dealer recommend that it be changed at 7500. Plus the cost of Amsoil Synthetic is at a premium over regular oil... Very curious...

Just my personal preference. I would NEVER let an oil Change go on a turbocharged gas motor over 10k miles. Pulled apart a lot of engines. Seen a lot of turbos internals fried bc of gunked up **** oil being ran through them. Where's the savings? I don't know I'm not that hard up for cash when it comes to taking care of MY **** how I want to. I could really care less what anyone else does to their **** it's not mine. All my trucks have made it over 200k withour any major issues so I must be doing something right. I believe aamsoil is a great oil but just would not run it through two turbochargers after a 40k oil change interval. Just wouldn't do it again my personal pref.I hate when people start getting all butthurt over someone's thoughts and or opinions
SEems to happen a lot around here and most of the people don't even know that the Damn trucks have 2 turbos..

That's right listen to a computer that simulates driving styles. I guess I'm old school. Just because a manufacturer makes it more appealing to it's consumers by saying " oh yeah the truck runs on 87" and " don't worry about oil changes do it when the truck tells you to" what a load of ****. Honesty .

Not gonna post again till 170k hits and I'm still on the stock turbos. Good luck everyone.

I can't always go for mileage but Sunday had a pretty good run. Managed 25.8mpg for the round trip but over 27mpg for the return leg with more truck traffic and a bit of a cross/tailwind.

How fast did you run ?
The speedlimit where I live is 75mph.

I am not willing to run 55 mph to obtain this fuel milage.
