Thanks. Mine is magnetic too. The only difference is on mine you can rack the slide by pushing forward before you pull it off. That way you can roll around with it not being racked.

Be very careful with your states gun laws. Some allow those, some do not.

Yep... for instance, in Texas, you can open-carry - but it must be secured on your person, in an appropriate holster.

Regardless, I don't want a weapon exposed when Officer Friendly walks up. That's a good way to end up looking down the business end of his weapon...

So besides the concerns that have already been discussed, you're also carrying it without one in the pipe? What happens when you push forward with your quick draw and fail to chamber a round? That's going to be one of the loudest clicks you'll ever hear when you drop the hammer/striker on an empty chamber in a time of need. You could always throw the gun at the bad guy.

Yep... if you even manage to rack it in the first place. In a stressful situation, the first thing that goes out the window is fine motor control.

So I guess I'll explain. I carry chambered on my person daily. This magnetic holder for in the truck would be for a larger frame, larger capacity magazine that I do not carry on my person. I do not want it to be chambered while being held by a magnet when the truck is moving, for safety concerns. Its just another option. I am very familiar with firearms and have been carrying for 10+ years. I didn't come here asking for anyone's opinion about the phantom, just an idea of a safe location to install it without hitting some wires and whatnot. Feel free to do whatever you feel is best for you and your family.

Well, in reading this, you are doing what anyone with knowledge of firearms would do. If a trigger is exposed don't leave a round in the chamber. Sounds like you have done your research. Let us know how it goes.
