serious question here... in a scenario where you have passengers and are being car jacked isn't this situation worse than having it on your person? as it may escalate the situation? or in a situation you are pulled over and the officer see's it and lets say its a rookie who freaks out? again no judgement just a serious question question
anyone reading this is free to answer.. i would love to hear responses
I see your point, but I would say it depends. You are right, sometimes, it is better to be a good witness, and de-escalate the situation. That being said, I hope I would make the correct decision if it ever presents itself.
I understand that carrying can either save my life, or take it. I personally carry to stand my ground, and defend myself and my loved ones. As for the police, I fully believe those that get shot by the police gave him/her reason. I have been pulled over with a gun, and in my state, they know I carry a permit, so they come prepared. Hands at 10 and 2, yes sir, no sir, etc. The one time, it wasn't an issue.
So you carry a fancy hammer. Condition 1 or leave it at home until you’re comfortable carrying it like you should. If you get jumped, you do not have time to rack a round.
Preach. "Oh, I can chamber a round in less than X seconds"... yeah, until you're under duress and your fine motor control goes to zero.
And, my favorite response to anyone who tells me Condition 1 isn't safe:

I couldn’t agree more. When it’s go time u don’t have seconds to rack a round. I’ve taken many friends to the that don’t carry hot not one has been able to rack a round and get on target before I could draw/fire
so strange that the OP has to defend the idea of exercising his constitutional rights.
some holsters - i think the serpa - have a mount so you can do like the magnet mount but have a real holster which rotates to detach from the mount. the holster can then go with you - you dont magnetize your gun and you have a holster.
personally i keep mine in a holster mounted in the center console so though i do have to open the console, once open the draw is fast and no further steps are needed. i can lock the center console when not in use.
i carry everywhere but do like a safe i installed in center cinsole. Gun is in there on a magnet and ues round is chambered. When i exit its with me. Also lets me secure my stuff while hunting, including my wallet phone and keys.

i used to feel this way until a license gun owner got killed by what seemed like a rookie cop who wasn't paying attention and panic'ed .. now it makes me concerned .. now i usually slide my permit under my license when i'm stopped.. so far so good.. but the magnet seems like a good idea and i even added one to my amazon list, but i always want to be over paranoid and weigh the pros and cons before i make that choice since i have a child in a car seat and its not as easy as all adults can quickly exit my truck
