Whatever you end up with make sure it either can't be seen when you leave the truck or it is not recognizable as a holster. Car prowlers love guns. Just the possibility there may be one inside is enough for them to break in.

I am thinking of getting this though to hold it a little better:

How is that used? Is it a further restraint for the holster?

My understanding, since I don’t own it, is that it has clips that fit around the bottom of the trim and the lip between the top of the trim and the steering column. Then it has a mechanism to mount a holster to it (looks like maybe a short length of webbing for a belt clip). It looks like it will hold a holster more securely and not make as much noise from rattling or be as likely to pop off accidentally.

That's for the input guys, I ordered a kydex holster and a few pieces of kydex. Going to see about building a clip to maybe put on the drivers door, then attach the holster to it. I'll post pics once it is done.

Check out DARA holsters. They have a slick setup using RAM mounts. On the more expensive end, but secure. I purchased one and I'm going to install it tomorrow. I'll do an update with pictures.

Look at Sticky Holsters. I have their travel kit that i use in my Harley and truck. I also use the Alien Gear IWB holster when carrying on me. Its usually really comfortable to ride with inside the truck but the Sticky holsters work well if you need to remove the gun.
