Chevy VS Ford
a chev vs ford forum? interesting. i have owned all fords inclding a 76 f250,87 f150,89 f150,90 f250,93 ranger supercab,93 ranger splash (rolled that one, damn shortboxes) 97 f150, and my current 05 f150, also my wife has 00 expedition. the only chev owned by me was a 99 sunfire which isn't really a vehicle anyway.
to drive or defend their truck. So I have to get the best bang for my buck, and to drive/depend on the best truck availalbe. I think it is Fords. My brother runs a Lincoln/Mercury dealership, but that don't really move me too much as they still don't pay me to drive their truck. So I drive a truck that when I get a 100k on it, I still feel like I have lots of use left.
In my before post i didnt mean the new chevys this years model it was the year before they updated the chevys and made them look like ****. They some what look like a hammerhead shark and thaqt body style is pure sh.it. and i cant stand it. I meant the one right before the new upgrade were the they left the body normal and didnt make it look all weird.
I think the best answer to this question was given to me by a buddy.
Look around at the work trucks, fleets, and the like in your area. I'd bet an overwhelming number of 'rigs, from one-man yardwork to full fleet delivery operations will be Ford trucks and vans (and I was brought up Mopar, it was a hard pill to swallow). I don't know enough to say definitively, but, people for whom it pays to do the research seem to lean to Fords, around here anyway...

I now own a Ford and a Chebby truck. The Chebby is new to me so no mechanical probs yet. Like mentioned above this thing has eleventy billion buttons.. It has plenty of power. It rides like a car though. The Ford has enough power. Even though the Chebby put down more power on the dyno the Ford out runs it.. It might be the driver I don't know. The Chevy has a higher towing capacity than the Ford, but the Ford has a higher payload. They are both Crew Cabs. The Ford has more room in the back. I prefer Ford because I saw less of them in the shop with problems. The new Fords have the modular engine that I love, its smooth, loves high RPMs and pulls like a beast once it hits the highway.
i am a ford man. and i really want the 2009 f-150. when i was looking for a truck i looked at the gmc and i like the power however i didnt like the wheel wells and the interior didnt match the ford..i fell in love with the floor shifter and plus the fully loaded ford was cheaper.
Another disadvantage to the Chevy 1/2tons is the rear drum brakes and the inside door handles are in a stupid location. The 3/4s have their door handles up above the arm rest. Chevey doesn't have much of imagination on style. They are still using the same wheels that the had in 02 on their 3/4 tons. The passenger seats in the rear of the extended-cab and crew are uncomfortable. I noticed on the chevy commercials where they show all of their trucks from beginning to now, they skip the mid 70s to 80s body style and go right to the 90s. How come gm never has commercials about their strengths?
I would rather have a dodge with a hemi than these new toyotas. I went to a kart race yesterday with my neighbor and there was a fully equipped tundra trd right next to us. My neighbor accidently scratched the bumper on the tundra when he pulled his trailer in. We talked with the guy for a while and he said that he traded his duramax for it and it was a bigger mistake than his ex-wife. He was pulling a 15' enclosed trailer (about7500 lbs loaded) and was only getting about 4-6 mpg on long trips. Though he did get 15 mpg without the trailer. He said that without the weight distrubion hitch. It would quat and sway badly. The rear leafs on the tundra look to be 2" wide and there isn't much to them. The spare tires don't match the four that come on the truck either. We had an f-250 xl with a v-10. Our fuel milage is about 8 mpg towing a loaded 20' trailer. The guy said that he was always a chevy guy but after seeing what Ford has been doing to stay a step ahead, he might try one. My neighbor was going to pay him for the scratched bumper but the guy just took a set of 4 kart tires in return. He planned on getting rid of the truck soon anyways. the guy said TRD really stands for turd
