Talking My Two Cents...Ford ROCKS!!

My 2000 Ranger was in the shop for some insurance work to have some things fixed due to vandalism. For those two weeks my insurance company gave me a 2007 Chevy Silverado scab to drive. Now I'm not gonna lie, I was impressed (but of course at the same time this was comin from drivin a small lil ranger for 5yrs!). I thought its interior design was very roomy (I'm a 300+ powerlifter) and cushioned well and just "looked nice". It def did have some get up and go under the hood and the ride was very nice. My main complaint about it would have to go to their engineer dept. b/c for some odd reason they decided to put their interior door handles way below your armrest so that in order to exit the vehicle you almost had to reach halfway down your leg to pull the latch! But I'm not gonna lie, I def liked this truck. (Now i must admit that during these two weeks i did drive it hard...really hard (hey, it's a rental!) i didn't do any heavy loading or hauling so I can't make an honest comparison there.

Now with all that said, on the very day that I dropped off the chevy to the body shop and picked up my repaired ranger, I drove 2miles down the road to the Ford dealership, traded in my ranger ($2500) and wrote a 22K check for a brand new 07 xlt 150. I didn't even go to the Chevy dealership to even shop around. I guess just in my mind w/all things being equal, I'm gonna go w/the ford every time. It just has too much history and too much name brand value for me to choose something else. Ford would have to really mess up royally for me to buy a different truck. I must admit that i can't really say that I believe that Ford just totally kills the competition in my opinion. I believe that it is close (some years more than others) w/the Chevy competition (Don't stone me!!) but there is also just something intangible that draws me to them and their line of trucks. Something that towing capacity, horse power, torque, GVWR comparisons just can't really explain...They just simply ROCK!

When I was looking I did the same thing that obusnizzle did. I was looking
at nissan big time but like obsnizzle said they had stupid pkgs.like if you want xm radio you have to get floor mats DUH then out came the new chevy /gmc liked them but. The deciding factor ford offered a 6'5" bed in 150 models which chevy/gmc doesn't offer (didn't want to drop under a 6' bed) and no weird pkgs, not to mention the company I work for have chevy/gmc and they have nothing but problems with them.I believe I've chosen wisely

I would definately go with my ford as far as style and comfort in comparison to the 06 and older Chevys. I think that the tahoes and avalanches have a much nicer appearance all the way around than the 07 chevy pickups. My dad and brother both have 05 chevys but my Dad will admitt that he wishes he bought a ford. He saved $1000 by buying the chevy.

Dodge is a joke, the limited lifetime powertrain warranty is only limited to keeping maintenance records. If your tranny goes out at 25k and you were supposed to change the fluid at 15k, your warranty is voided. The 2009 dodge halftons are supposed to get a make over also but from the pics that i have seen, they put a new front clip on them and thats it. there is no camoflge on the rest of the truck.

if its not a ford then it is not a truck!! they build the best truck hands down and their cars are also gaining ground on the competition in quality and reliability. if i ever have probs with one of fords products i still will not buy anything else.

I agree with you there. I went and looked at the new silverados when I got my truck and as soon as I sat in it I knew I hated it. I didn't care for the interior as it looked too plastic(y) and as for the exterior.....well I can't say anything nice about it.

I picked up a copy of consumer reports (cars) today. The best and worst of 2008. Ford had 41 of 44 models that were average or above in reliability. 93% GM had only 49% with average or above reliability and dodge/chrysler had 67%. I will have to take this copy of CR to my friends and family because they are mostly gm people

I like the way the new silverados look also the ford. If it came down to buying one i would definatly go ford but i saw a 07 jet black silverado with a lift kit and big off road chrome wheels on the dealership lot the other day and i was fu.kin drooling. The silverados have a great exterior style escpecially with a lil chrome and an open flow exaust the trucks are so nice. I kind of like the body style over a ford. LOL or maybe iits just the one at the dealership on the lift kit it looks so sweet.

just the lift kit i hope, the front of the chevy looks HUGE, and the flairs on top of all the wheels is not a fave. plus they are WAY behind on tech,
