i do expect a certain amount of bias towards Ford on this site but you do get some surprising answers sometimes when you talk to a fan of one make about another. The other night i was riding with a Dodge owner....he has a 1998 Ram 1500 and loves it. Says he hopes to keep it at least another 10 years. He then went on to say he has always been impressed with the F series. Quite frankly it was after that conversation that I came here.
I was luckey enough to be able to learn from others mistakes. My brother-in-law has always been a bow-tie guy. Last count he has put 8 transmissions through 3 trucks. He had a 90 chevy with 234,000 miles on it. In that time he had replaced 3 transmissions, two engines(350's) and two transfer cases. I had a 90 f150 with the 351 and 177000 at trade off time.
Repairs done over 14 years , brakes, starter, ball joints, 2 power window motors, and one door lock solenoid. All done past 100,000 miles and 10 yrs. Oh and plugs. Stick with Ford.

I had a bunch of different Chevy trucks over a 10 or so period. I got a Ford this time as I just never warmed up to the Chevy redesign. Besides the Ford seems much tighter than Chevys.
