Half ton trucks aren't real pickups anyway, in that case.

If you haven't noticed, short beds are what 90% of buyers want in half ton light duty pickups.

Ford wants to actually sell these things, ridiculously long wheelbases or lacking rear seats, don't sell

You're correct there. I can't blame Ford for following the market. Most pickups rarely seem to carry anything in the bed.

I'm going to give a 4.5' bed a try with the new Maverick.

This should drive all the Billy-Bobs crazy!

Last few years my truck is a city truck used to haul trash and occasional runs to WalMart

I recently switched to a Jeep Gladiator after my 2018 Lariat was purchased back from Ford under the Lemon Law but highly interested in this Lightning

I have an XLT with long bed and heavy duty Payload. See sig. I use mine weekly to pick up donated food from the local Walmart market store for the local food bank. I have had to put things in the cab once or twice.
So I would like a long bed but realize that it's not gonna happen with the Lightning. Looking forward to my Cybertruck if Tesla offers V2H.

Here's the big question. Maybe my search fu isn't working: I preordered an F150 Lightning Pro as that's all I really want/need. At $40K it will be the cheapest, by far, of the 4x4 electrics. The fact that Ford will not have disqualified the 7500 tax credit if I took delivery when they say (May 2022), I'd end up paying about 33K for the truck. What is the chance they actually release it for that? I'm pretty much 100% certain that truck will show up on the lot and they will call me down to show me a +$15,000 market "adjustment" sticker and a take it or leave it to go with it. What are they chances I actually get one for MSRP?

Couple of things.

Nobody has ordered a Lightning yet. The order banks never opened. And a May delivery is going to be for a very lucky few. Nobody knows when, or if, the current tax incentives or future incentives will be gone. Between the Transit, Mach-E, plug-in Escape and the Lightning, they will start to go quick once they are all on sale. The only way not to be surprised on price when you go to pick it up is to be candid with your dealer when you do go to order it. Get them to put it in writing that they will not add an ADM on top of the price you agree on.
