MODERATOR NOTE:

This thread is for discussing the upcoming Lighting model F-150 truck AND ONLY THE TRUCK.

We had an employee event where there were 2 Lightnings available to view. They must have been fresh hand-built units from the Glass Annex or Pilot Plant, because I haven't seen a PRO or XLT in the wild. The trucks at the press events are usually a Platinum or Lariat. Enjoy.

I got more pictures of the PRO than the XLT. The event was on the other side of the complex and I was running short on time.

The front "Trunk Space" absolutely catches me off guard every single time!

Has anybody that went to one of the in person events taken a close look at the tires? Make, model, size? Been able to or thought to give them a quick feel-up?

Discount Tire among others have some thoughts and speculations about the tires, but it's not really official or known yet, plenty are likely wondering how these range-conscious tire compounds and tread patterns are going to be

I really want to do the 80 Amp EVSE for the Lightning, but unfortunately my garage is about 4 inches shy of getting my current truck all the way in, and I imagine that will be the same for the Lightning unless Ford is blunting the front end a bit or something (I doubt it).

I hope it can live outside and mount to our garage or be on a pedestal. That will be my biggest frustration I think as far as that stuff goes. We have an EVSE in our garage now for my wife's Focus, so would be adding a circuit no matter what.

That does raise an interesting kind of associated question, I wonder what the crawl ratio is. Instant torque on electric motors give them the potential to be the kinds of rock crawling. Low center of gravity, instant torque, but I can also see them just spinning tires with all that torque if you can't get them to turn very. slowly.

I have no idea....probably not good without a low range transfer. Then there's the range hit to deal with....minus 20-30% maybe?

You watch, tho, someone will do it, then b@tch about only getting 150 miles/charge out of it.
