See this thread: https://www.f150forum.com/f129/power...-house-547376/

I paid $1400 in labor. I bought the parts myself.

Bring worth it if going to be different for everyone. If you want a rolling generator, there's no better option on the market as long as you can stand not powering something when driving if it doesn't fit in the bed or can't be towed.

Getting it for fuel economy is going to depend on your typical driving environment. If you can cruise around at mostly 35-45 mph without a ton of stops, you'll get great fuel economy. It'll be roughly the same as the regular 3.5 on the highway or when towing. If your going stoplight to stoplight in heavy city traffic, fuel economy also won't be great, but better than other options.

It also shines in the summer as you can "idle" with the engine off and still get cold AC. The compressor is electric and runs off the hybrid battery.

The biggest compromise for most is you will have lower payload than an equivalently spec'd truck with another engine. Some care about this, others don't. You can still get a reasonable payload if you pay attention to option boxes though.

I'd buy any Ford powertrain before a Powerboost. I could very well have bought a KingRanch 3.5l Ecoboost when I couldn't stand the Powerboost anymore but Ford couldn't build one without a bunch of deleted features. So, I switched to GMC. A upper trim level truck and zero deleted features.

I do not like them, I’m sure plenty of others do.

I currently have a MY22 PB with 20K+ miles on it. To date, knock on wood, I've had no problems with it. Of course I bought it strictly because of the 7.2Kw generator. I tow and boondock a lot. I got tired of carrying around the 2 Honda generators and the gas to run them. My PB has done a superb job powering my travel trailer.

That said, If I didn't tow and boondock, I probably would have opted for the 2.7 EB, or possibly the 5.0L
